This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a leading-edge open payments platform, shaping how digital transactions are processed at scale. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will blend hands-on coding with technical leadership, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable systems. Accountabilities: Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs, services, and internal frameworks for a high-throughput payments platform. Own the full lifecycle of features and systems, from design through deployment to ongoing support. Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives. Proactively identify and solve operational and architectural challenges, ensuring system reliability and performance. Support production systems during high-pressure incidents and lead root cause analyses to implement systemic improvements. Mentor other engineers, promoting reusable patterns, shared context, and high technical standards. Continuously stay current on emerging tools, architectures, and best practices to support long-term platform health. 4+ years of experience building production systems using REST services, SOA, or microservices. 3+ years of experience working in agile teams (Scrum, Kanban) with mature CI/CD pipelines. 3+ years building applications with Ruby on Rails. Proven ability to develop modern, responsive front-ends using JavaScript, Vue.js, or TypeScript. Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and SOLID principles. Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, ORM/DAO concepts, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred). Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge of secure coding practices and application security principles. Additional valued skills: experience in Elixir, payment gateways/FinTech, monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Datadog, Grafana), high-throughput system optimization, cloud certifications, or agile methodology expertise.
