You will lead technical planning, development, and delivery of complex full-stack projects, with a focus on backend systems, databases, and API design, while occasionally contributing to frontend development. As a senior engineer, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and researchers to co-create solutions that directly enhance the user experience. You’ll help shape both the product and technical scope of projects, mentor other engineers, and influence engineering best practices across the team. This role combines autonomy with collaboration, allowing you to take ownership of your work while contributing to the overall success of the engineering organization. Accountabilities: Lead planning, design, and delivery of full-stack engineering projects, with emphasis on backend architecture and database design. Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, data, and research teams to define technical and product scope. Implement scalable, maintainable, and high-quality code across backend and frontend systems. Participate in code reviews, testing, QA, and release management to ensure reliability and performance. Contribute to engineering guilds and knowledge-sharing initiatives, providing technical guidance and mentorship. Develop best practices for database migrations, API design, and overall software architecture. Continuously improve team processes and engineering practices to enhance productivity and quality. 4–7 years of experience as a full-stack engineer, with significant backend expertise. At least 1 year of experience with Ruby (Rails) and proficiency in other backend/server-side frameworks. Minimum 1 year of experience with React in production environments for complex web applications. Demonstrated experience leading large technical projects and collaborating across teams. Strong understanding of databases, data modeling, API design, and system architecture. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Must be located in the United States and authorized to work without visa sponsorship. Bonus Qualifications: Prior experience mentoring and upskilling other engineers. Passion for user research and integrating insights into technical solutions. Curiosity and desire to continuously improve software development practices. Ability to contribute to team knowledge bases and technical guilds. Total compensation (base + performance bonus): $150,000–$170,000/year (depending on seniority). Stock options for all employees. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, with options for fully employer-covered premiums. Company-paid AD&D and life insurance. Annual membership to One Medical & Talkspace. 401(k) plan with employer contribution. 4 weeks PTO to start + additional accrual per year; unlimited wellness days. Flexible, paid parental leave. $250 office setup budget and $50/month remote work stipend. $250 annual learning and development stipend. Recognition awards, work anniversaries, birthdays, and annual company retreat. Weekly engineering brunches and learning sessions to share knowledge.
