This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Blockchain Protocols in the United States. In this role, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of blockchain and network protocols, building highly scalable and secure distributed systems. You will work across the full stack, collaborating with data scientists, designers, and product managers to deliver mission-critical solutions. This position offers the opportunity to lead technical initiatives from research through production, mentor peers, and tackle complex challenges in peer-to-peer networking and blockchain runtimes. Accountabilities: Architect, implement, and maintain high-performance distributed systems integrating multiple data sources. Research, design, and productionize blockchain and network protocols, focusing on client-server and peer-to-peer communication. Optimize protocol behaviors, including message passing, consensus, synchronization, and fault tolerance in distributed environments. Work across databases, caches, application code, and deployment pipelines to solve end-to-end technical challenges. Mentor team members, participate in code and design reviews, and drive knowledge sharing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, implement, and improve services. Innovate in areas such as block propagation, chain re-organization detection, libp2p networking, and network observability. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience). Extensive experience in designing and implementing network protocols and distributed systems. Proficiency in low-level programming languages such as Rust, C++, or Java. Hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, gRPC, libp2p, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, and Elasticsearch. Experience with peer-to-peer networking, client-server protocol development, and real-time communication systems preferred. Strong problem-solving, independent work, and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across global time zones. Interest in blockchain protocols and networks, with a passion for building robust, secure, and performant systems. Competitive annual salary: $200,000 – $230,000 (U.S. base).
