As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and performant systems that power critical digital experiences. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and engineers, while mentoring junior developers and contributing to the technical vision of the platform. This position allows hands-on engineering on complex systems, from vehicle connectivity solutions to web and mobile applications, with a strong emphasis on cloud-based architectures and modern software best practices. Accountabilities: Lead the architecture, design, and development of complex backend systems to support digital products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions. Implement and enforce software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and CI/CD processes. Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance, including 24/7 on-call responsibility for services owned by your team. Stay current with emerging technologies and apply them to improve software development processes and product outcomes. Participate in product strategy discussions, contributing technical insights to enhance user experiences and operational efficiency. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development. Proficiency in one or more backend languages, such as Go, Python, Java, or Ruby. Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis). Familiarity with identity management systems and directory services (Azure AD, AWS Cognito, LDAP, Okta, Keycloak). Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and modern engineering practices. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on elegant, scalable solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Optional/Preferred: experience in automotive or manufacturing environments, full-stack development, or building cloud-based solutions on AWS.
