This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Developer Environments) in the United States. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and optimize developer environments, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable backend systems in a high-growth, fintech environment. The role focuses on enhancing developer productivity by providing reliable, automated, and efficient tools that support a global engineering team. You will lead initiatives from design to delivery, troubleshoot complex distributed systems, and foster a culture of ownership and technical excellence. This position requires collaboration with product, design, and analytics teams to ensure technical solutions meet business needs while maintaining high standards of quality. The role offers the opportunity to influence internal engineering platforms at scale and drive impactful improvements across the developer experience. Accountabilities Lead and deliver quarterly goals for the team, providing guidance and support to engineers through complex and ambiguous problems. Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to define requirements, technical constraints, and trade-offs. Identify and address project, process, technology, or operational issues, advocating for solutions and driving improvement. Ensure operational reliability and availability of developer tools and environments, including metrics, monitoring, and on-call responsibilities. Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, design reviews, and team practices, promoting ownership and accountability. Mentor team members, providing feedback, guidance, and career development support. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field. 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale, using languages such as Python or Kotlin. Extensive experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization, Kubernetes, and scalable infrastructure components. Proven ability to define technical plans, write high-quality code, and implement changes safely in large codebases. Hands-on experience with developer environments, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Buildkite, GitHub Actions), test automation, configuration management, and release engineering. Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills in a global engineering team. Demonstrated ownership of personal and team growth, proactively seeking feedback and continuous improvement. Experience building ephemeral developer environments is a plus. Base pay range: $169,000 – $240,000 USD depending on location and experience.
