Build, maintain, and scale full-stack features while collaborating with teams and managing the development lifecycle.
5+ years software engineering experience with deep Ruby on Rails proficiency and strong communication skills for a remote environment.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in United States. This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven, high-growth health technology environment where software directly supports safer and more consistent care. You’ll work as a high-ownership, product-minded engineer across a modern full-stack ecosystem, taking features from architecture through production. The role offers significant autonomy, with the freedom to challenge assumptions, shape technical direction, and solve ambiguous problems. You’ll collaborate closely with product and engineering teammates to translate real user needs into reliable, intuitive solutions. Your work will balance rapid product delivery with long-term system health, security, maintainability, and performance. You’ll also contribute to engineering culture through mentorship, technical leadership, documentation, and process improvements. For an engineer who thrives on meaningful problems and wants measurable impact, this role offers both technical depth and purpose. \n Accountabilities: Build, maintain, and scale full-stack features across Ruby on Rails, React, and Flutter, taking ownership from technical design and implementation through deployment and iteration. Translate complex or ambiguous user needs into intuitive, reliable, and technically sound product solutions, challenging requirements when necessary to improve outcomes. Make architectural and technical decisions independently while balancing product priorities, engineering constraints, maintainability, security, and long-term scalability. Take responsibility for production systems, investigating incidents, resolving reliability issues, and implementing sustainable improvements to system performance and resilience. Proactively identify technical debt, architectural weaknesses, and areas of system fragility, addressing them before they become barriers to growth. Partner closely with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to refine solutions, communicate technical decisions, and ensure alignment between product goals and implementation. Contribute to a strong engineering culture through thoughtful code reviews, documentation, mentorship, knowledge sharing, and process improvements. Promote pragmatic simplicity by focusing engineering effort on the highest-value problems and avoiding unnecessary complexity. Support the evolution of engineering practices as the organization scales, helping establish standards that enable the team to move quickly without compromising quality. Requirements: 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a demonstrated history of owning features or systems from conception through production deployment. Deep proficiency with Ruby on Rails, including experience designing, building, maintaining, and scaling robust backend systems. Strong understanding of relational database design, query optimization, architecture, and technical trade-offs, with a focus on maintainability, security, and reliability. A strong product-first mindset, with the ability to understand user problems, identify gaps in requirements, and advocate for effective technical and product solutions. Excellent communication skills, particularly in remote environments where clear documentation, asynchronous communication, and thoughtful collaboration are essential. Experience working in fast-paced startup or high-growth environments, where priorities evolve and ambiguity is common. Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, proactively identifying opportunities and determining what should be built or improved next. Experience working on software where reliability and security are critical, such as healthcare, fintech, or other high-consequence environments, is preferred. Experience with React and/or Flutter is a plus, as is hands-on experience with AWS and modern DevOps practices. Experience with systems interacting with physical devices or operating in low-connectivity environments is advantageous. Familiarity with security and compliance requirements such as HIPAA and SOC 2 is valuable. Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Benefits: Competitive base salary of $140,000–$160,000, depending on experience and qualifications. 100% company-paid medical coverage for the base plan. Dental and vision insurance options. 401(k) retirement plan. Company-paid life, AD&D, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance. 24/7 virtual primary care and mental health support at no additional cost. Monthly Lifestyle Spending Account for wellness, personal needs, and company merchandise. Birthday and work anniversary stipends. Flexible paid time off and company holidays. Fully remote work environment within the United States. Opportunity to work on mission-driven products with measurable impact on vulnerable populations. High ownership, visibility, and opportunities for career growth within a rapidly scaling organization. \n How Jobgether works: We use an AI-powered matching process to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
