Full Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Developer, Engineering Automation based in United States. As a Senior Software Developer, you will lead the development of firm-wide engineering automation solutions with a strong focus on Revit automation and related applications. You will remain deeply hands-on while shaping the technical direction and roadmap for automation initiatives across engineering teams. The role combines software architecture, product development, engineering workflow optimization, and technical leadership. You will translate complex AEC workflows into scalable, maintainable tools that improve efficiency, quality, and project delivery. Working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders, you will establish development standards and continuously improve automation products based on usage and feedback. You will also mentor other developers and evaluate emerging Autodesk technologies and practical AI applications that can enhance engineering workflows. \n Accountabilities Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and support firm-wide Revit automation tools and related engineering applications. Lead the Automation focus group and maintain a strategic roadmap based on business value, technical feasibility, engineering priorities, and user feedback. Remain hands-on with software architecture and development using C#/.NET, the Revit API, WPF, and Python. Gather requirements from engineering teams and translate real-world workflows into scalable, maintainable, intuitive, and reliable software solutions. Build integrations across Autodesk products, engineering systems, internal applications, data sources, and selected Autodesk Platform Services APIs. Establish and maintain development standards covering architecture, coding practices, testing, documentation, source control, deployment, and release management. Monitor application reliability, adoption, usage, performance, and user feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Use operational and user insights to refine product priorities and ensure automation solutions deliver measurable business and engineering value. Provide code reviews, technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior and mid-level automation developers. Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance without direct personnel-management responsibilities. Collaborate with engineering and Digital Engineering stakeholders to ensure automation initiatives align with broader organizational objectives. Evaluate emerging Autodesk technologies, modern software development practices, and practical AI applications that could improve engineering workflows. Support production applications and resolve technical issues to maintain reliable automation capabilities. Establish processes that promote consistent development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of automation solutions. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. At least 7 years of relevant experience in software development, BIM automation, design technology, or a related field within the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. Strong practical knowledge of Autodesk Revit, engineering workflows, and production software development using the Revit API. Advanced proficiency with C#/.NET and working proficiency with Python for automation, integrations, and data processing. Experience with WPF or comparable desktop user interface technologies. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and maintainable software architecture. Hands-on experience with Git, code reviews, software testing, CI/CD, deployment, and production application support. Demonstrated technical leadership and strong architectural judgment, with the ability to make sound technology decisions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience gathering requirements and translating business or engineering needs into practical technical solutions. Experience with Autodesk Platform Services, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Forma, or the AEC Data Model is preferred. Experience supporting multiple Revit versions and enterprise application packaging, updating, telemetry, or error monitoring is a plus. Experience managing software product roadmaps and mentoring junior or mid-level developers is preferred. Experience creating tools for multiple engineering disciplines is advantageous. Familiarity with practical AI integration into engineering applications and workflows is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. Willingness to travel occasionally to offices, team meetings, company events, or other business activities within the United States.
