This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer based in the United States. As a Senior Product Design Engineer, you will help shape polished, high-quality experiences across privacy-focused consumer products used by millions of people. You’ll operate at the intersection of product design and engineering, turning concepts and interactions into production-ready experiences. The role combines hands-on coding, prototyping, design systems, motion, accessibility, and close collaboration with front-end engineers. You’ll independently lead high-impact projects from ambiguous problem definition through execution, launch, and measurement. Your work will directly influence product quality, interaction standards, and the evolution of the design engineering discipline. You’ll also have an opportunity to help establish practices and workflows for a growing design engineering function. The environment emphasizes autonomy, thoughtful collaboration, experimentation, and end-to-end ownership. \n Accountabilities: Lead complex product design and design engineering initiatives from ideation and problem definition through implementation, release, and post-launch evaluation, establishing clear goals and success criteria. Translate product concepts and visual designs into high-quality, production-ready experiences by working directly in the codebase and partnering closely with front-end engineers. Create detailed prototypes, mockups, interaction specifications, and coded explorations that communicate design intent and demonstrate expected behavior. Help maintain and raise the product quality bar across consumer experiences, identifying gaps between intended designs and shipped functionality and driving improvements to resolution. Contribute to and evolve design systems across both design and code, including token structures, semantic naming, primitives, components, and consistency between design sources and implementation. Develop tools, workflows, and practices that improve the speed, consistency, and quality of both design and engineering work. Apply strong expertise in interaction and motion design, including transitions, easing, spring physics, and real-world interaction behavior, to create refined user experiences. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and engineers as a peer, contributing to technical discussions, code reviews, product decisions, and implementation strategy. Use qualitative and quantitative research, experimentation, and product instrumentation to validate decisions and measure the impact of design solutions. Help shape the design engineering discipline by establishing effective practices, sharing knowledge, and identifying opportunities to improve collaboration between design and engineering. Use AI and agentic tools thoughtfully within design and project workflows to accelerate execution while maintaining strong judgment, quality, accessibility, and human-centered design principles. Requirements 7+ years of experience in product design, design engineering, or closely related roles, including at least 2 years operating at a senior level within significant consumer-facing or global brands. Strong ability to communicate visual and interaction concepts through polished mockups, prototypes, design rationale, and clear written and verbal communication. Demonstrated ability to work directly with engineers as a peer, participate meaningfully in code reviews, reason through implementation decisions, and contribute code when appropriate. Experience prototyping directly in code to a production-quality standard, with strong knowledge of semantic markup, accessibility, and modern front-end practices. Deep understanding of interaction and motion as implemented behavior, including easing, spring physics, transitions, and responsive or interruptible interactions. Strong experience designing and maintaining sophisticated design systems, including token architecture, primitives, semantic naming, component structures, and alignment between design and code. Experience defining product requirements and creating tools or workflows that improve design and engineering efficiency while preserving quality and consistency. Proven ability to independently manage projects of varying complexity, from initial proposal and scoping through execution, launch, and measurement. Strong research and experimentation skills, with the ability to combine qualitative and quantitative insights and instrument work to measure outcomes. Experience writing creative briefs that clearly articulate project goals, rationale, requirements, and success metrics for diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and ownership, with the ability to navigate ambiguous problems, generate ideas, and move projects forward with urgency and discretion. Comfortable incorporating AI and agentic tools into everyday design and project workflows while maintaining strong independent judgment and quality standards. Collaborative, transparent, and adaptable communication style, with a strong ability to work effectively across disciplines. Benefits Annual compensation: $178,500 USD, plus stock options.
