Requires a bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field, at least five years of systems engineering experience, proficiency in Cameo and SysML, and an active Secret clearance.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Model Based Systems Engineer based in the United States. We are seeking an experienced Senior Model Based Systems Engineer to lead the development and integration of model-based systems engineering solutions for complex U.S. Navy systems and processes. In this fully remote role, you will leverage your expertise in Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Cameo Systems Modeler to design, validate, and maintain engineering models that support documentation, analysis, and simulation. You will provide technical leadership, coordinate modeling activities, and ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with customer requirements. Working closely with customers, program managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will translate technical documentation into structured, reliable system models. You will also mentor junior engineers, optimize modeling approaches, and integrate engineering data with databases and visualization tools. This is an opportunity to contribute to mission-critical defense engineering projects while advancing technical excellence and innovation. \n Accountabilities Architect, develop, and integrate model-based systems engineering (MBSE) models for Navy systems and processes to support engineering documentation, technical analysis, and simulation. Evaluate alternative technical approaches and select appropriate SysML modeling strategies in collaboration with customers and management. Review, extract, and structure information from technical documentation for incorporation into system models. Lead the implementation of selected architectures in Cameo Systems Modeler, assigning tasks to modeling team members and ensuring deliverables meet design objectives. Integrate Cameo models with databases and data visualization platforms to support customer reporting and analysis requirements. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and ongoing support to junior modelers. Conduct quality assurance reviews of system models and related technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements. Maintain configuration management practices for models, repositories, and associated engineering artifacts. Coordinate with program managers to assess workforce availability, prioritize assignments, and allocate modeling tasks effectively. Requirements A Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program. At least 5 years of systems engineering experience or experience working with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) systems in an engineering capacity. A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with Cameo Systems Modeler. At least 2 years of relevant technical leadership experience, including task coordination, technical oversight, or team mentoring. A minimum of 2 years of experience using Jira and Confluence for project coordination, documentation, and collaboration. Strong understanding of MBSE principles, SysML modeling approaches, system architecture development, and engineering data integration. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into effective modeling solutions. Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with customers, program managers, and multidisciplinary technical teams. The ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate workloads, and maintain high standards of quality in a remote working environment. Preferred qualifications: Experience with shipboard control systems, operational technology, network infrastructure, and Navy technical documentation, including technical manuals and installation drawings. Relevant certifications such as INCOSE or OCSMP are advantageous. Familiarity with MySQL, Databricks, and Power BI is also desirable. Security requirements: U.S. citizenship is required, along with an active or current Secret security clearance. Benefits Competitive annual salary: $89,100–$148,200, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, education, certifications, and applicable contract requirements.
