Full Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior IT Systems Engineer, IT Innovation based in the United States. This senior individual contributor role focuses on designing sophisticated automations and integrations that help a growing organization operate more efficiently. You will tackle complex, ambiguous technical challenges where systems, workflows, and data dependencies intersect. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, requiring strong judgment and the ability to establish reusable patterns and standards. You will work closely with engineering, security, compliance, business teams, and external technology partners. AI-powered and agentic workflows are increasingly central to the environment, creating opportunities to shape how emerging technologies are governed and applied. Your work will directly reduce manual effort, strengthen operational reliability, and help other engineers deliver solutions more effectively. \n Accountabilities Design and deliver complex, business-critical automations and integrations connecting core enterprise systems, including AI-powered and agent-based workflows. Evaluate ambiguous technical challenges, select appropriate approaches, document technical decisions, and clearly communicate options, risks, and tradeoffs. Identify underlying structural issues such as fragile integrations, workflow gaps, and unclear data contracts, addressing root causes rather than isolated incidents. Develop reusable integration patterns, shared components, agent building blocks, permission models, fallback mechanisms, and other foundations that can be adopted across IT. Establish and evolve technical standards for authentication, error handling, testing, agent permissions, human approvals, and other governance practices in partnership with Security and Compliance. Own monitoring, alerting, production reliability, and incident response for critical automations and agent-based systems, leading investigations and remediation when issues occur. Act as a senior escalation point for complex IT systems challenges while reducing recurring issues through automation, better tooling, and root-cause improvements. Partner with engineering, product, security, and business stakeholders to shape integration strategies and reach sound technical decisions without relying on formal authority. Build productive relationships with vendors and technology partners, staying informed about relevant platform capabilities and roadmaps. Mentor IT Systems Engineers through design reviews, pairing, documentation, and technical guidance, while helping broader teams develop automation and AI-agent capabilities. Requirements 7+ years of professional experience in automation, integration, IT systems engineering, or a closely related technical discipline, with hands-on delivery of business-critical solutions. Strong experience with Workato, including recipe development, API integrations, and error handling; experience with comparable iPaaS platforms such as Boomi, MuleSoft, Tray, or n8n is also valuable. Demonstrated experience integrating enterprise systems such as identity and access management, HR, ticketing, and finance platforms through APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures. Proven ability to create reusable technical patterns and components that are adopted by other engineers rather than delivering only one-off solutions. Hands-on experience developing AI-powered or agentic workflows within environments requiring appropriate governance and controls. Proficiency in Python or another scripting language used for automation, integrations, troubleshooting, or developer productivity. Strong technical judgment and the ability to make and defend architectural decisions when established patterns do not exist. Experience collaborating with engineering, security, compliance, and other technical stakeholders on system design and implementation. Strong influencing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt technical messaging to different audiences and drive alignment without formal authority. Demonstrated ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers and contribute to the growth of distributed technical teams. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Workato or an equivalent iPaaS certification is a plus. Benefits Target base salary range of $125,000–$138,000 USD, with individual compensation determined by experience, location, internal equity, skills, and other business considerations. Competitive total rewards package that includes equity and comprehensive benefits. Medical, dental, and vision coverage beginning on the first day of employment. Access to disability and other employee benefits, plus HSA and FSA options with potential employer HSA contributions of up to $1,000 depending on the plan. Employer-sponsored 401(k) matching of up to 2%. Annual access to mental health services, including therapy, coaching, and medication management resources for employees and dependents. Competitive paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and company holidays. Parental leave of up to 18 weeks for birthing parents and 16 weeks for non-birthing parents after six months of employment. Fertility support and reimbursement, fitness and wellness programs, and childcare and elder-care assistance. Up to $1,000 annually for professional development. Annual donation matching of up to $200. Fully remote work within the United States. A collaborative environment focused on innovation, empathy, accountability, continuous learning, and meaningful impact. Employees are encouraged to use AI thoughtfully and develop AI fluency as part of their professional growth. \n How Jobgether works: We use an AI-powered matching process to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
