Full Description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Geospatial Software Engineer in the United States. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy scalable geospatial software solutions that leverage satellite imagery, natural resource data, and advanced GIS techniques. You will work with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure to build robust data pipelines and geospatial services, applying modern Python-based workflows and spatial data standards. This position involves analyzing requirements, creating system architectures, and delivering high-quality software that supports water resources modeling and predictive analytics. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hydrofabric data, implement automated testing frameworks, and continuously improve system performance. This role offers an environment focused on innovation, technical excellence, and mission-driven impact, where your contributions directly support critical environmental and operational decision-making. Accountabilities: Analyze, process, and visualize spatial natural resource and satellite data using GIS and remote sensing techniques. Design, develop, and deploy geospatial services using Python and formats such as STAC, Zarr, GeoTIFF, NetCDF, and COGs. Develop scalable geospatial data pipelines on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for operational-quality modeling frameworks. Conduct system analysis, design specifications, coding, and unit testing, ensuring software meets performance, maintainability, and security standards. Implement best practices for clean, maintainable code, automated testing, and continuous integration. Collaborate with teams to integrate geospatial datasets, hydrofabric representations, and modeling outputs into enterprise systems. Troubleshoot, refine, and optimize software solutions while providing technical guidance to project teams. Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience. Experience with geospatial or data-intensive backend systems at enterprise scale. Proficiency with Python, geospatial libraries (GDAL/OGR, GeoPandas, Xarray, Zarr), and data processing workflows. Experience with raster and vector data, coordinate reference systems (CRS), and geospatial formats such as GeoTIFF and NetCDF. Experience developing automated testing scripts for unit, integration, regression, and security testing. Knowledge of software integration, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum methodologies. Preferred: experience with remote sensing datasets (Landsat, Sentinel, MODIS), hydraulic modeling, CNN/RNN/LSTM deep learning for spatial data, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Singularity). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage complex projects independently. Competitive salary range: $82,000–$164,000, adjusted based on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. Retirement savings plans with company matching (401k). Flexible work schedules and remote-first environment. Paid time off, holidays, parental leave, and employee assistance programs. Professional development opportunities, including learning programs and certifications. Opportunity to work on mission-driven projects with significant societal and environmental impact.
