Full Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer based in the United States. The Senior DevOps Engineer will design, build, and maintain the cloud infrastructure that powers mission-critical SaaS applications serving customers around the clock. This role focuses on AWS architecture, infrastructure automation, system reliability, security, and scalability across production environments. Working closely with software engineers and cross-functional teams, you will lead infrastructure initiatives and support seamless migrations of critical systems. You will help reduce manual operational work by developing robust automation, improving deployment workflows, and leveraging AI-powered engineering tools. The position combines hands-on technical expertise with architectural ownership and the opportunity to influence infrastructure strategy. You will also contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and preventative improvements that strengthen service availability. This is an opportunity to make meaningful technical decisions within a collaborative, fully remote engineering environment focused on reliability and continuous improvement. \n Accountabilities: The Senior DevOps Engineer will take ownership of infrastructure architecture and operations, ensuring that production systems remain secure, reliable, and capable of scaling with business needs. Key responsibilities include: Architect and implement infrastructure solutions that support seamless migrations of critical systems while minimizing downtime and protecting service reliability. Design, build, and maintain tools, automation, and operational processes that enable SaaS applications to scale efficiently on AWS. Collaborate closely with software developers to improve application architecture, performance, security, scalability, and reliability. Build and maintain critical infrastructure components that support high availability, resilience, and secure production operations. Develop and optimize infrastructure-as-code practices and automated deployment workflows to reduce manual work and improve consistency. Contribute to infrastructure strategy and technical decision-making, evaluating new tools and technologies based on business needs and technical merit. Work across technical and non-technical teams to align infrastructure decisions with broader organizational objectives. Participate in a weekly on-call rotation, acting as a key escalation point for production incidents affecting 24/7 services. Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis, implementing lasting corrective and preventative measures. Identify opportunities to improve monitoring, alerting, operational visibility, and incident response. Leverage AI tools to support incident triage, infrastructure-as-code generation, runbook development, and other engineering workflows. Promote secure-by-design infrastructure practices and contribute to compliance readiness and ongoing security improvements. Requirements: The ideal candidate is an experienced DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or cloud infrastructure professional with strong architectural capabilities and a hands-on approach to production operations. They should be comfortable owning complex technical challenges, collaborating across teams, and making decisions that balance reliability, security, and business priorities. Required qualifications and skills include: 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Operations, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related role. Demonstrated expertise in system design, infrastructure architecture, and hands-on cloud administration. Strong experience with AWS; experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is also relevant. Solid engineering-level understanding of networking, cloud security, identity and access management, and infrastructure protection. Practical experience with AWS services, including IAM, VPC, EC2, Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), RDS, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, Secrets Manager, KMS, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail. Production experience with Terraform or Terragrunt for infrastructure as code. Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef or Puppet. Familiarity with GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, and GitOps workflows. Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana. Ability to read and work with code written in Java, Ruby, Bash or Zsh, HCL, Python, and JavaScript. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly when diagnosing production incidents and implementing durable solutions. Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers and stakeholders across different functions. Strong ownership, sound technical judgment, and a proactive approach to infrastructure reliability and security. Willingness to participate in a weekly on-call rotation supporting production systems operating 24/7. Preferred qualifications: Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Amazon ECS or Kubernetes-based Amazon EKS. Familiarity with SOC 2 requirements and secure-by-default infrastructure practices. Knowledge of Layer 7 (L7) load balancing. Interest in applying AI and automation to improve infrastructure engineering and operational efficiency. Benefits: Fully remote work: Remote working arrangement, with the source listing Croatia, Spain, and the United Kingdom as eligible locations. Technical ownership: Opportunity to influence infrastructure architecture, tooling decisions, and engineering practices. AI-enabled workflows: Access to AI tools and encouragement to explore new ways to improve engineering productivity. Collaborative environment: Close partnership with developers and cross-functional teams, with an emphasis on open discussion and shared problem-solving. Professional impact: Responsibility for critical infrastructure supporting around-the-clock services. Inclusive culture: A workplace that values diverse perspectives and is committed to equal opportunity. \n How Jobgether works: We use an AI-powered matching process to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
