This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Consulting Engineer – Government Cloud Managed Services based in the United States. This is a senior technical role focused on designing, operating, securing, and continuously improving cloud infrastructure for government customers and regulated workloads. You’ll work across secure cloud, hybrid cloud, and multi-cloud environments, including government-focused Azure, AWS, and GCP platforms. The role combines hands-on engineering, advanced troubleshooting, automation, compliance, and customer-facing technical leadership. You’ll help maintain mission-critical environments where availability, security, performance, and regulatory compliance are essential. The position offers exposure to complex enterprise infrastructure spanning compute, networking, identity, security, observability, databases, automation, and service management. You’ll collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams while contributing to architectural improvements, managed services strategy, and pre-sales opportunities. This role is ideal for an experienced cloud engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, mentoring others, and operating in a high-accountability environment. \n Accountabilities: Provide advanced operational support, administration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management for government customer cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments across Azure Government/GCC High, AWS GovCloud, and/or GCP. Monitor, maintain, and optimize cloud environments to meet availability, performance, security, compliance, and SLA requirements. Manage incidents, problems, changes, service requests, and operational activities according to established ITIL, security, compliance, and service management practices. Troubleshoot complex issues across compute, storage, networking, identity, security, automation, monitoring, backup, databases, and other platform services. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays as required to support critical government environments. Lead advanced root cause analysis and remediation efforts while identifying preventative actions that improve reliability and operational maturity. Apply government security and compliance frameworks, including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, FISMA, DISA STIGs, and CIS Benchmarks. Manage cloud configurations, access controls, security controls, monitoring, logging, automation, and technical documentation. Implement approved upgrades, patches, migrations, configuration changes, and other infrastructure improvements through established change management processes. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code, scripts, automation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and operational procedures to improve consistency and efficiency. Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, health assessments, and proactive remediation to optimize customer environments. Provide technical recommendations around cloud architecture, security posture, automation, operational maturity, and managed services delivery. Communicate with customers, account teams, project managers, and internal stakeholders regarding incidents, risks, changes, technical issues, and service performance. Maintain accurate incident, change, service, knowledge, and customer-environment documentation. Participate in customer service reviews, technical discussions, and operational meetings to support satisfaction and continuous improvement. Collaborate with Customer Success, Professional Services, Security, Architecture, Sales, and Operations teams to deliver high-quality managed services. Support pre-sales opportunities by providing technical expertise, solution recommendations, and input into cloud managed services proposals. Research and evaluate emerging cloud, automation, security, and operational technologies that can strengthen managed services capabilities. Mentor peers and team members by sharing cloud engineering expertise, technical knowledge, troubleshooting techniques, and operational best practices. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of IT infrastructure engineering experience, including relevant cloud, systems, network, automation, platform, or operations engineering experience; alternatively, 9 years of total IT engineering experience, including at least 5 years in relevant infrastructure or cloud engineering. Advanced technical certifications in at least two of three major cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud solutions across Azure Government/Azure GCC High, AWS GovCloud (US), and/or GCP. Strong experience with enterprise infrastructure technologies such as cloud platforms, Windows and/or Linux systems, storage, virtualization, networking, observability, automation, databases, security tools, and service management platforms. Practical experience applying government and industry security frameworks, including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, FISMA, DISA STIGs, or CIS Benchmarks. Demonstrated ability to perform advanced root cause analysis and resolve complex infrastructure and cloud issues. Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Customer-focused mindset with the professionalism and communication skills needed to establish trust with government customers and senior stakeholders. Excellent verbal, written, and technical documentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently, take ownership of assignments, follow established policies and procedures, and meet urgent or time-sensitive deadlines. Strong collaboration and leadership skills, including the ability to mentor peers and provide technical guidance. Willingness to continuously develop expertise through cloud, infrastructure, automation, security, and service management training and certifications. Ability to build strong customer relationships, maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, and identify opportunities that support future business. Ability to travel as needed. Preferred: Experience working in large-scale enterprise, hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, or hosted data center environments. Preferred: 3+ years of Managed Services experience. Preferred: Additional certifications in cloud, automation, security, ITIL, networking, infrastructure, or related disciplines. Benefits: Base salary of $96,000–$150,180, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Quarterly bonus target of 10%, subject to the applicable plan terms and conditions.
