This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer, Alerting in North Carolina. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain high-performance backend systems that handle large-scale alert ingestion, evaluation, and delivery. You will collaborate with distributed teams to create reliable, scalable, and efficient solutions that serve millions of users globally. This position emphasizes ownership, innovation, and a deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud environments. You will contribute to shaping product strategy, mentor team members, and actively influence the engineering roadmap. The role is remote-first and requires strong communication and self-driven problem-solving skills in a collaborative, high-impact environment. \n Accountabilities: Design, build, operate, and maintain critical backend systems for alerting, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance. Drive projects from ideation through to production and operations, actively contributing to roadmap planning. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features that meet user needs and business objectives. Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of services to maintain operational excellence. Mentor and support other team members, contribute to design discussions, and foster knowledge sharing. Embrace an open-source culture, contributing to related projects and ensuring high-quality code delivery. Continuously learn new skills, understand cloud products, and optimize system performance based on feedback and monitoring. Requirements: Proven experience as a backend software engineer, preferably in distributed systems or cloud-based environments. Strong programming skills in Go, Python, Java, C++, Rust, or similar languages. Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend systems. Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, observability, and monitoring systems. Experience delivering software from requirements gathering to production. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for fully remote teamwork. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Familiarity with alerting systems, Prometheus, or large-scale metrics evaluation is a plus. Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and robust code. Benefits: Competitive US-based salary range: $148,505 – $178,206, with potential variation based on experience and skill set.
