This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Developer in United States. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of a large-scale, cloud-based Enterprise-IoT platform that powers smart energy solutions. You will work in a collaborative environment alongside product experts and engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that process data from millions of IoT devices. The position involves implementing distributed systems, optimizing performance, and ensuring the stability of cloud-native services. You will help shape the technology roadmap, evaluate new solutions, and deliver high-quality software that directly impacts energy efficiency and sustainability. Accountabilities: Develop, maintain, and enhance the Enterprise-IoT backend platform and associated services. Collaborate closely with product owners and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions. Build distributed systems and cloud-native applications, ensuring performance, stability, and security. Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve system capabilities and developer experience. Participate in agile development processes and contribute to best practices in software design and engineering. Troubleshoot issues, optimize systems, and ensure high-quality deliverables for smart energy products. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software development, with strong backend expertise. Proficiency in JVM-based languages (Java, Kotlin, or Scala). Practical experience in agile software development environments. Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly. Experience with distributed systems, cloud computing (preferably AWS), and IoT frameworks is highly desirable. Familiarity with Kafka, MongoDB, Terraform, Quarkus, or other modern backend technologies is a plus. 100% remote work with optional office in Hamburg, Germany for in-person collaboration.
