This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Instructor/Training Specialist (Navy) in California (USA). This role is responsible for delivering and coordinating technical training for naval personnel on Hull Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems. The Instructor/Training Specialist will develop, revise, and implement training programs, facilitate hands-on sessions, and ensure crew members achieve required certifications and qualifications. The position involves extensive collaboration with technical and leadership teams, supporting new construction, modernization, and system refresher training events at multiple locations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has deep naval technical knowledge, and can convey complex concepts clearly and effectively. Travel is a key component of the role, and candidates should be prepared to engage in extended training events as scheduled. Accountabilities • Develop, review, and revise training curriculum to support naval personnel certifications, watchstander training, and qualifications. • Conduct HM&E training events for DDG and CG ship classes, including new construction and modernization programs. • Facilitate technical training sessions at shipyards, local crew detachments, and Land Based Engineering Sites (LBES). • Oversee training crews during events, providing instruction and answering technical questions. • Coordinate with customers and technical leadership to ensure training meets operational and safety requirements. • Maintain and update student records in Corporate Enterprise Training Activity Resource System (CETARS). • Serve as Safety Observers during hot plant operations. • Support additional naval training programs as needed, including emerging ship classes or systems. Requirements • Five (5) years of experience as a Navy Instructor and Gas Turbine Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) qualification. • Certified Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS). • Ten (10) years of shipboard Gas Turbine Systems Technician Mechanical/Electrical (GSM/GSE) experience. • Experience with DDG Post-Modernization/New Construction Machinery Controls System (MCS). • Instructional design experience for U.S. Navy Interactive Learning Environment (ILE) and familiarity with media production techniques. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting to senior stakeholders. • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software quickly. • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain required security clearance. • High school diploma or GED; relevant technical certifications preferred.
