This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager, Machine Learning in North America. This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead the development and scaling of machine learning capabilities in a cutting-edge product environment. You will define the ML strategy, build a high-performing engineering team, and guide the implementation of LLM-powered features that enhance user experience. The position combines technical leadership, hands-on ML engineering, and strategic decision-making, allowing you to influence architecture, infrastructure, and product outcomes. You will work in a remote-first, fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver measurable improvements in AI-driven features. This role is ideal for someone passionate about applying the latest AI advancements to real-world applications while mentoring engineers and shaping organizational practices. Accountabilities Define and execute the machine learning strategy to enhance product capabilities and user outcomes. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of machine learning engineers, fostering technical and product-minded development. Prototype, architect, and deploy LLM-powered features while establishing evaluation and fine-tuning workflows. Oversee ML infrastructure spanning on-device and server-side models, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability. Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure responsible data handling, privacy, and compliance. Build ML developer tooling and processes to enable high-quality experimentation, deployment, and continuous improvement. Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product, and engineering teams to translate technical advancements into measurable impact. Contribute to engineering-wide practices, recruiting, onboarding, and processes that strengthen team culture and performance. 6+ years of experience developing, training, and productionizing machine learning models, including real-world applications. 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring senior engineers, with a track record of leading complex technical projects. Hands-on expertise with Python and experience fine-tuning open-source LLMs beyond basic LoRA techniques. Familiarity with modern ML training approaches, such as supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, and model evaluation pipelines. Strong product and engineering mindset, capable of translating ambiguous problems into actionable solutions. Experience building scalable ML infrastructure, including data pipelines, experimentation systems, and telemetry frameworks. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote, distributed team environment. Availability for at least 4+ hours overlap with North American Eastern Time Zone.
