This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Customer Data & Strategy based in Canada. As a Director of Customer Data & Strategy, you will lead the strategy that turns customer data into actionable insights and measurable business growth. You will sit at the intersection of data, technology, and executive decision-making, ensuring trusted customer information is accessible across the organization. The role combines enterprise data strategy, governance, consumer insights, analytics, and team leadership. You will partner closely with Marketing, Product, and Sales leaders to embed data into customer acquisition, product launches, and broader business initiatives. You will also champion data democratization through self-service tools, certified datasets, catalogs, and business intelligence solutions. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced data professional who can connect technical execution with strategic business outcomes. \n Accountabilities: Develop and execute an enterprise customer data strategy and roadmap aligned with broader business objectives. Establish and maintain standards for customer data quality, security, governance, and regulatory privacy compliance, including GDPR and CCPA requirements. Lead consumer research and insights initiatives focused on customer behavior, market trends, purchasing patterns, and other factors influencing business strategy. Partner with Marketing, Product, and Sales leaders to integrate customer data and analytical insights into product launches, acquisition strategies, marketing campaigns, and business decisions. Oversee the development of internal data tools, data catalogs, certified datasets, and self-service dashboards that enable non-technical stakeholders to access trusted information. Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of data analysts and scientists, supporting technical excellence, collaboration, and career development. Translate complex datasets, analytical findings, and technical concepts into clear strategic recommendations for executive and business stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement in data practices, analytical capabilities, and the accessibility of customer information across the enterprise. Requirements: 8–10+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, market research, data management, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience directly managing and developing a data-focused team. Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business, Marketing, Information Systems, or another related quantitative discipline. Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and advanced SQL. Strong experience with enterprise business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Proven experience developing and implementing enterprise data strategies, governance frameworks, and data quality standards. Strong understanding of regulatory privacy requirements, including GDPR and CCPA. Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information and raw metrics into strategic recommendations. Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Marketing, Product, Sales, Engineering, and executive stakeholders. Proven leadership and mentorship skills, with a track record of developing high-performing data professionals. Professional-level written and verbal English communication skills. A Master’s or advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. Benefits: Fully remote work environment.
