This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Data Scientist (Big Data Engineer) 2 in the United States. In this role, you will leverage advanced analytics and big data engineering skills to enhance financial reporting and decision-making processes. You will work remotely with cross-functional teams, supporting finance operations and optimizing business intelligence tools. The role involves reviewing, developing, and refining queries and dashboards in Tableau, Power BI, and other visualization platforms, ensuring alignment with state financial standards. You will also assist in report design, user acceptance testing, and training, contributing to robust data-driven solutions. This position requires strong expertise in financial systems, data warehouses, and report automation in a collaborative, remote-friendly environment. Accountabilities: Support the Finance Division by reviewing and enhancing existing data queries and visualizations. Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards, Tableau Prep workflows, and Bridge integrations. Collaborate on report design, development, and implementation following best practices. Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and training initiatives for finance staff. Coordinate efforts across multiple reporting and data projects to ensure accuracy and compliance. Provide recommendations for query optimization and process improvements aligned with CAPPS standards. Ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards and are completed in a timely manner. Proven experience in business intelligence reporting and data analysis. Strong background in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Bridge development. Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and other visualization tools is preferred. Experience with PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse technologies, and state financial systems (CAPPS). Knowledge of Texas state budget and finance processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office products. Excellent communication skills to present complex financial data to stakeholders. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while coordinating with multiple teams. Fully remote work with flexible scheduling.
