This fully remote Data Engineer role offers an exciting opportunity to design, implement, and optimize scalable data solutions supporting AI/ML initiatives and advanced analytics. The position focuses on building robust AWS-based data lakes, developing real-time and batch data pipelines, and delivering clean, ML-ready datasets to enable data-driven decision-making. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, business teams, and other technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality data insights and visualizations. The role requires hands-on experience with cloud platforms, ETL processes, and data integration tools while maintaining compliance with data governance and security standards. Ideal candidates are proactive problem-solvers, able to navigate complex datasets, and skilled in both technical execution and client or team collaboration. This role directly impacts mission-critical programs by ensuring reliable and actionable data infrastructure across the organization. Accountabilities: Design, build, and optimize AWS-based data lakes and data integration pipelines for batch and real-time data. Perform data profiling, transformation, and enrichment to prepare clean, ML-ready datasets. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support analytics and business decision-making. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to deliver curated datasets for ML and analytics workflows. Support project delivery for Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and BI initiatives, working alongside subject matter experts. Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy regulations, including federal standards. Document processes, standards, and integration workflows for internal and external stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 6–8 years of experience in data engineering with expertise in pipeline development and data integration. 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS data services including Glue, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, and Athena; familiarity with Redshift and Lake Formation is a plus. 6+ years of SQL and programming experience, preferably in Python. Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Amazon QuickSight. Familiarity with cloud integration tools like Talend or Informatica. Understanding of ETL concepts, data flow, enrichment, transformation, and real-time data streaming. Excellent communication, thought leadership, and presentation skills. US Citizen or Permanent Lawful Resident, able to obtain and maintain Public Trust. Ability to work remotely from within the United States and support Eastern Time Zone operations. Preferred: AWS certifications, experience with big data frameworks (Spark, Kafka, AWS Kinesis), event-driven architectures, DevOps tools (Jenkins/Git), and agile development experience.
