QUALITY CONTROL ASSISTANT Location: Franklin Park, IL (moving to Addison in November) Position Type: Temp-to-hire Requirements: Resume / Interview / Authorized to work in the US Shift: 1st shift 8am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 Based on experience. Position Summary We are seeking a Quality Control Assistant to support our food safety and quality assurance operations. In this role, you will conduct audits, inspections, and quality checks to ensure compliance with SQF, FDA, HACCP, and company standards. Working closely with the QC Manager and production team, you will help maintain product integrity, resolve food safety issues, and drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities • Verify CCP checks are performed as outlined in HACCP and Food Safety Plans. • Inspect production lines at start-up and throughout shifts (labels, tamper bands, caps, seals, etc.). • Conduct net weight checks and verification throughout the day. • Perform product, ingredient, and packaging tests to evaluate safety and quality. • Assist in investigating food safety and quality issues on the production floor. • Take corrective actions when necessary to maintain product integrity. • Perform inspections on finished products for compliance with specifications. • Educate and instruct production personnel in GMPs, sanitation, and housekeeping practices. • Confirm compliance with SQF audit procedures and production schedules. • Support facility goals in alignment with manufacturing, safety, and quality procedures. • Follow all company food safety and quality policies. • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned. Work Environment & Physical Demands • Moderate exposure to risks in production areas, including moving machinery and sanitation chemicals. • May require use of protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and safety shoes. • Long periods of standing and walking; lifting moderately heavy items (test kits, product cases). • May involve climbing, crouching, and reaching. Qualifications • Strong background in Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes. • Experience conducting quality audits and inspections. • Familiarity with SQF, FDA regulations, and HACCP principles. • Proficiency with measuring instruments (pH, Brix, Density, etc.). • Ability to analyze data and recommend quality improvements. • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
