Develop and maintain inpatient coder training programs, provide ongoing education and auditing of coding staff, and support coding compliance.
3-5 years of inpatient coding experience in acute care, Associate degree in HIM or equivalent, and certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS.
Position: Him Coding Ip Trainer/Auditor Duration: 7+ Months Location: Remote Job Summary: The IP Trainer/Auditor will utilize educational and team-building strategies, and a thorough understanding of ICD-10 coding conventions and DRG assignments to effectively train, educate and audit staff with the goal of maintaining a full complement of expertly trained inpatient coders enterprise-wide. Job Responsibilities: -Develops, implements, maintains and supports a comprehensive internal coder training program to successfully staff a highly qualified internal inpatient coding team. -Provides initial and ongoing training, education and auditing of coders participating in the inpatient coder development program. -Provides ongoing training, education and auditing of staff coders. -Provides continued guidance and education to staff by tracking, identifying, and monitoring coding compliance issues. -Provides coverage for the coding area as needed to meet coding goals while adhering to all coding guidelines. -Responsible along with management and the coordinators for the development, implementation, upkeep and monitoring of inpatient coding guidelines. -Other duties as assigned. Skills: Required Skills & Experience: A minimum of three (3) - five (5) years of HIM experience in an acute care environment coding inpatient records with DRG assignment. Preferred Skills & Experience: Experience at an academic facility. Keywords: Education: Required Education: Associate degree in HIM or equivalent. In lieu of degree education or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis of three (3) years of progressively responsible inpatient coding experience. Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in HIM or equivalent. Required Certifications & Licensure: Certified RHIA or RHIT or CCS. Preferred Certifications & Licensure: ICD-10 Trainer certification.
