This position is open to both current employees and experienced professionals from outside Jacobs. The successful candidate will lead a global team in designing advanced industrial microelectronics and semiconductor facilities. As the Structural Global Discipline Manager (GDM), you will develop and execute a global strategy for the Structural Department that aligns with Jacobs’ and Electronics’ business objectives. You will be responsible for coordinating resource management and utilization across regions and Global Delivery Centers (GDCs) and will work in close collaboration with Local Department Managers (LDMs), the Vice President of Engineering, Project Managers, and Sales/Business Development. Your commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization will elevate the efficiency and productivity of the global structural team. Your teams will deliver designs for buildings, industrial structures, and MEP-support systems in state-of-the-art facilities. You will be accountable for meeting client expectations regarding technical quality, schedule, and budget. In this impactful role, you will • Lead and mentor more than 200 engineers and designers through your team of LDMs in the United States, as well as the 100+engineers within the Global Design Centers (GDC). • Organize and chair the Structural Leadership Team, overseeing technology, workflows, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and project execution. • Drive operational excellence by identifying and implementing productivity improvements and best practices. • Review and approve staffing adjustments, including hires, CCLOAs, and terminations, in collaboration with the Director of Engineering. • Identify and coordinate training and professional development opportunities globally, including for Global Design Centers. • Monitor utilization targets for GDC staff • Drive continuous improvement initiatives. • Foster a diverse and inclusive culture that values different experience levels and backgrounds. • Manage HR-related matters and oversee annual e3 performance reviews and merit increases. Bring your curiosity, talent for multi-tasking and extreme organizational skills and we’ll help you grow, pursue and fulfill what drives you – so we can make big impacts on the world, together.   Here's what you'll need • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering • More than 15 years of industrial-type structural engineering experience (20+ years preferred) • Knowledge of concrete, steel, and seismic design and construction • Demonstrated leadership of medium to large teams within a matrix organization • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills • Willingness to travel regularly to Portland, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, or Dublin, and occasionally to Krakow, Manila, and India Ideally, you will have • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE), PEng, or Chartered Engineer license • Knowledge of structural construction practices • Knowledge of design codes, analysis methods, and materials • Hands-on experience with structural design tools and processes • Proven ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing global teams Location & Travel Ideally this is a hybrid role based in any of Jacobs’ Electronics offices Portland, OR; Phoenix, AZ; Pittsburgh, PA; or Dublin, IR. However, for the right candidate any location in North America is acceptable. The position requires frequent visits to these offices, as well as occasional travel to GDCs in Krakow, Manila, and India. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
