Develop and implement public engagement and communication plans for electric transmission projects, coordinate outreach materials, and manage stakeholder interactions including public meetings.
3-5 years in communications/public engagement within electric transmission, renewables, or utilities, with travel up to 20%, and a relevant bachelor's or master's degree.
About the position Responsibilities • Identify public engagement and outreach needs for client projects, including the development of client or project specific Communications and Engagement Plans. • Understand the regulatory requirements of local and state governments related to required public engagement for electric transmission infrastructure. • Develop strategies to clearly communicate project information to internal and external stakeholders, including the project need and benefit, schedules, site or route selection, construction processes, and engineering design by using a variety of platforms from traditional materials and website and social media. • Coordinate and participate in the development of outreach materials to client standards using AP style for creating content. • Interact with client development teams, regulators, local stakeholders, and internal Jacobs team members. • Participate and coordinate in-person and virtual open house platforms to provide project information to the public and gather and catalog public comments. Requirements • Bachelor's or master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, or related field • Three-five years of experience in electric transmission, renewables, utilities or other applicable experience in communications and public engagement. • Travel up to 20% of the time and driving up to 4 hours for project meetings. Nice-to-haves • Experience with Microsoft Office products. • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational skills, a collaborative approach, and proven consensus-building ability. • Applicable certifications: Certified Public Participation Professional (CP3), Master Certified Public Participation Professional (MCP3), International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), or similar.
