JMAA is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill the Maintenance Technician- Grounds role. What traits do we seek? Successful candidates will… • Have knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in grounds maintenance services for large facilities. • Know grounds and lawn services such as cutting grass, trimming trees, landscaping, trash removal from the lawn, and parking lots. • Excel at the use and maintenance of tools and equipment used in maintenance, reconstruction, and repair work. • Shine at performing tasks safely and compliantly, communicating clearly, and building cooperative working relationships. • 2+ years of related experience is required • Be able to pass and maintain background and security clearance. • Have a valid Mississippi driver’s license. What Do You Get to Do? You will… • Maintains the airport's physical grounds, including cutting grass, trimming trees and shrubs, tending and planting flower beds, spraying fertilizers and insecticides as needed, and removing trash from lawns and parking lots. • Performs painting, cleaning, maintenance, and repair on airport property, structures, and facilities, i.e., gates, fences, flood lights, airfield lighting, signage, and buildings. • Conducts daily and periodic self-inspections of the airfield to ensure compliance with FAA regulations. • Performs day-to-day activities outlined in the airport's Wildlife Hazard Management Plan (WHMP) to include monitoring, harassment, trapping, dispersal, depredation, and removal of wildlife. Investigates and submits FAA Bird Strike reports as needed. • Operates complex equipment in the removal of snow and ice from runways, taxiways, ramps, airfield entrances, and parking lots. • Monitors the airport grounds for hazards and security-related issues with regard to FAA regulations. • Remains current in all required training, including but not limited to: AAAE Airport Operations, WHMP, SWPPP, SPCC, AEP, and SICP. • Removes foreign object debris (FOO) from the Air Operations Area (AOA) and other areas of the airport. • Maintains the airport maintenance facility in an organized and orderly fashion. • Utilizes various manual, gas, and handheld electrical tools and equipment in installing or repairing facilities, equipment, fences, or related structures, i.e., saws, welders, drills, hammers, shovels. • Follows work order procedures in response to institutional needs, documenting work performed, parts used, and work completion. • Communicates with the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATC) when duties require access to the movement area (taxiways & runway) and operates vehicles and equipment in a safe manner. • Performs general building and grounds maintenance functions as needed.
