The Executive Director of Business Development role is critical to driving new business opportunities, gaining market share, and building revenue generation, from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales and business development within the healthcare staffing industry, specifically in locum tenens or workforce solutions, with a focus on achieving ambitious growth targets. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES: Business Development - 80% Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities to achieve sales targets and expand market share with the locum tenens sector Oversee the short and long-term sales and marketing planning in partnership with senior leadership; providing regular updates Assist senior management with developing and executing short-term and long-term sales and marketing planning; providing continuous updates and insights on performance of strategic plans Lead strategic research initiatives to analyze market conditions, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to inform leadership decision making. Design and execute business development strategies to drive business growth and market penetration Build and manage strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including potential clients, partners, and industry leaders, that are critical to business expansion. Represent the organization at conferences, tradeshows, and industry events, to promote thought leadership and expand network Oversee the preparation and completion of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other documentation required to secure new business opportunities and partnerships. Lead negotiations and close high-value deals with clients, ensuring alignment with revenue goals and company objectives. Partner with internal teams, including operations, marketing, and legal, to ensure seamless execution of business growth initiatives. Monitors and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to proactively identify opportunities for growth and innovation. Develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients, effectively communicating the value proposition of our services Team Management & Development - 20% Build and lead a high-performing team of business development associates and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth Manages daily operations of direct reports, ensuring they meet daily metrics and budget goals Directs team processes and procedures; ensures work is completed in accordance with Company standards Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives Maintains the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE) May work on special projects or other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY/EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITY Manages a team of business development associates Communicates with external vendors and service providers as needed Requires advanced awareness of budget processes and financial acumen QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field Proven successful track record of 8+ years in business development sales within the workforce solutions or locum tenens industry. Demonstrated success in driving new business growth and achieving sales targets. Experience working in a startup environment or with early-stage companies is a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to adhere to and exhibit the Company Values at all times Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams Working knowledge of Salesforce or relative CRM systems Working knowledge of document management systems Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills - both oral and written Ability to build strong business relationships at all levels Strong interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Solid critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills Ability to consistently meet goals, commitments, and deadlines Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality PHYSICAL, MENTAL, WORKING CONDITION, AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Typical office environment - sedentary with typing, writing, reading requirements. May be able to sit or stand. Speaking, reading, writing, ability to use a telephone and computer Ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally Ability to interpret various instructions Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization Ability to travel as required to attend conferences, tradeshows, and prospective client meetings.
