Sous Chef / Line Cook – Island Soul Kitchen (Sacramento, CA) Full-Time | Competitive Pay | Brand-New Restaurant Opening About Us: Island Soul Kitchen is a new Jamaican-American bar and restaurant opening on Stockton Blvd in Sacramento. Our concept blends bold Caribbean flavors with soulful American comfort food in a vibrant, community-focused space. We’re building an all-star opening team and are looking for skilled, motivated kitchen professionals to grow with us. Position: Sous Chef / Line Cook We’re seeking a talented and reliable Sous Chef / Line Cook who is passionate about delivering high-quality food, maintaining kitchen standards, and working as part of a fast-paced, positive team. This role is ideal for someone with strong cooking skills who wants to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility over time. Responsibilities • Prepare and execute menu items consistently according to recipes and standards • Support the Head Chef with prep, cooking, plating, and kitchen organization • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment • Assist with inventory, labeling, storage, and waste reduction • Uphold food safety and sanitation standards at all times • Collaborate with FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service • Step into leadership duties when needed (Sous Chef candidates) Qualifications • 1–3 years of experience as a Line Cook or higher in a full-service kitchen • Strong knife skills and understanding of various cooking techniques • Ability to stay organized and perform well during high-volume service • Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and good communication skills • Reliability and punctuality are essential • Experience with Caribbean or scratch cooking is a plus—but not required What We Offer • Competitive hourly pay (DOE) • Opportunity for growth into Sous Chef or leadership roles • Supportive, team-centered environment • Ability to grow with a brand-new concept from the very beginning Schedule • Full-time • Evenings, weekends, and holiday availability required • Flexible scheduling possible as we build our opening team How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief note about your experience and why you’d like to join Island Soul Kitchen.
