Overview The Manager, Product Operations plays a critical leadership role in driving operational excellence across the product lifecycle—from development through delivery. This role is responsible for building and optimizing the frameworks, processes, and cross-functional collaboration necessary to scale and enhance product performance. Acting as a strategic partner to Product Management, Publishing, Membership, IT, Sales, Marketing, and Sales Operations, this individual ensures alignment, clarity, and efficiency across all touchpoints that influence product success. The Manager will lead initiatives focused on process improvement, data-driven decision-making, and continuous optimization to accelerate time-to-market and elevate the overall product experience. Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development • Provide strategic leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the product operations team, fostering a high-performance culture rooted in excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Champion effective communication, collaboration, and alignment both within the team and across key departments to drive cohesive execution of operational priorities. Strategic Alignment & Lifecycle Optimization • Partner with senior product management to align operational practices with corporate objectives. Define and implement scalable, best-in-class processes for product setup, maintenance, and sunsetting. Lead initiatives that streamline lifecycle management and drive adoption of operational best practices across the organization. Quality Assurance, Analytics & Process Improvement • Establish and oversee quality assurance standards to ensure products meet organizational expectations throughout their lifecycle. Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and collaborate with data analysts to deliver actionable dashboards and reporting. Monitor lifecycle stages and customer escalation channels (CEC) to identify trends, drive root cause analysis, and lead continuous improvement initiatives—including knowledge sharing and training—to reduce operational friction and support demands. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Product Alignment • Act as the primary operational liaison across Product Management, Publishing, Membership, IT, Sales, Marketing, and Operations. Facilitate cross-functional coordination to support seamless product development, deployment, maintenance, and retirement, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and strategic priorities. Drive Operational Excellence and Cross-Functional Execution • Evaluate and implement tools and technologies to enhance product operations efficiency, ensuring Fonteva and Salesforce product data remains accurate and up to date. Train teams on new processes to improve collaboration and productivity. Supervise cross-functional project management for product launches and updates, overseeing timelines, deliverables, and dependencies to support timely, successful releases. Maintain and communicate the product roadmap, prepare regular performance reports for senior management, manage operations budgets, and identify opportunities for cost optimization. Maintain comprehensive documentation of product operations processes to ensure consistency and transparency across the organization. Qualifications Required Field of Study: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Product Management from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Minimum Years of Experience Required: • 6–8 years of experience, including 2–3 years of people management or team leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence Description of Minimum Relevant Experience Required: • Background in data-driven decision-making, including the development of KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to measure operational effectiveness • Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships • Previous work experience as an operations manager, product operations manager • Familiarity with product management, operations management, pricing management, data analytics, and project management Preferred Field of Study: • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Product Management from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Preferred Years of Experience: • 8+ Years of relevant professional experience with proven track record of successful team management and leadership Description of Preferred Relevant Experience: • Experience managing operations at an association • Experience managing operations at a learning, content, or service product management organization • Experience working in an agile environment Competencies/Skills Required: • Leadership & Collaboration • Strong people management skills with experience coaching, developing, and motivating high-performing teams • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority • Skilled at facilitating collaboration between departments such as Product, Marketing, IT, Sales, and Customer Success • Change management mindset, with the ability to lead teams through evolving priorities and systems • Strategic & Operational Thinking • Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously • Strong understanding of the product lifecycle and best practices in lifecycle management (development, launch, maintenance, sunset) • Experience building and optimizing scalable operational frameworks and process improvements • Analytical & Technical Skills • Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to turn insights into actionable improvements • Familiarity with dashboarding and reporting tools; experience working with KPIs and performance metrics • Working knowledge of product management platforms (e.g., Jira, Aha!, Confluence) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Fonteva) • Comfortable with budgeting and cost analysis in operational environments • Communication & Documentation • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Skilled in developing clear, comprehensive process documentation and training materials • Ability to effectively present to senior leadership, providing insights, recommendations, and updates • Customer & Quality Focus • Strong customer-centric mindset, ensuring that operational processes support excellent product experiences • Commitment to quality assurance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement Occasional travel may be required for this role, particularly to attend company-sponsored events such as all-hands meetings and team offsites.
