The Senior Project Engineer, Data Center Design - Federal and Special Projects is a client facing design professional responsible for the conceptual design, project scope development and detailed design of special projects in the data center and critical facility markets. Responsibilities: Responsible for managing the design of federal and special projects within the US with a combined value between $40 million a year. Direct third party architectural and engineering teams in the design of data center projects in accordance with Iron Mountain design standards and federal security standards. Interface with internal finance, sales, and operations teams to validate project fit-out and build programs. Work with outside parties such as developers, consultants, equipment manufacturers, construction managers, and third party project management firms in order to deliver projects. Provide design and engineering oversight to include budget, schedule and overall product delivery on assigned critical infrastructure activities and projects. Support sales engineering team in evaluating options necessary to support pursuit of business opportunities. Support procurement of long lead, owner furnished equipment for data center projects. Promote a responsible platform of inclusion and diversity within the Design and Development team. Provide professional assistance as requested in support of global projects. Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies: Applicable four year college degree required 7 – 10+ years experience required A minimum of five years experience in managing design teams for mission critical projects. A minimum of ten years in design and construction project delivery. In-depth knowledge of complex electrical, mechanical, life safety and control systems associated with critical facilities or data centers. Knowledge of national and local building codes. Experience in implementation of IDC 705 requirements into new and existing facilities preferred. Professional written, presentation, and customer relationship skills. Creating, building, and managing relationships with key suppliers, business partners, and internal customers are vital to this position. Total travel 25%; overnight travel 25%. US Citizenship Required Active DOD Security Clearance preferred, ability to obtain a DOD security clearance is required.
