DIRECTOR, PATIENT SERVICES INNOVATION & OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE (TRAINING) Summary The Director, Patient Services Innovation and Operational Excellence is a pivotal leadership role reporting to the Executive Director, Patient Services Innovation and Operational Excellence, and is responsible for shaping and leading the transformation of the Patient Innovation Lab from a Patient Services-focused capability to an enterprise-wide Innovation Center of Excellence. In addition, this role is accountable for the design, governance, and delivery of Patient Services-related training for Ionis colleagues and field teams supporting commercialized products. Vendor management of our Patient Services operational partners may also be part of the responsibilities for this role. This position will be remote with preference for Southern California or Boston, Massachusetts. Responsibilities Patient Innovation Lab • Clarify and share vision of the Patient Innovation Lab as a Center of Excellence for Ionis • Showcase completed Patient Innovation Lab initiatives and define a prioritized annual roadmap aligned to Ionis business objectives • Proactively identify actions needed to elevate awareness and value of Patient Innovation Lab with operational partners, leadership, and cross functional partners • Actively discuss ways in which Patient Innovation Lab can support other functional areas and find opportunities to build confidence in what the Lab can deliver • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Innovation Lab, including vendor collaboration, project management, and cross-functional activities Patient Services Training • Serve as the strategic liaison between Patient Services subject matter experts and the Ionis Learning and Development team, ensuring training strategy and execution meet Patient Services and field needs • Lead the design of training program(s), partnering with subject matter experts and Learning and Development to incorporate adult learning principles and best practices • Proactively connect with Field and Patient Services leaders to identify continuous learning opportunities and a plan to address ongoing training needs Vendor Management • Hold our key operational vendor partners accountable to delivering operational excellence • Motivate vendor partners and Ionis’ dedicated teams to perform their best for Ionis’ programs • Engage vendor partners in understanding and addressing operational excellence gaps • Proactively plan for upcoming operational challenges with seamless execution Requirements • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, PharmD, PhD) strongly preferred • At least 15 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, consulting or healthcare services experience required, with recent deep experience in training or innovation • Experience leading initiatives with enterprise or cross-functional impact preferred • Passion for operations and operational details • Proven cross-functional leadership, project management, and collaboration skills • Outstanding customer relationship, communication, presentation and writing skills • Demonstrated ability to operate hands-on while influencing strategic outcomes • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical specialty products preferred • Self-motivated & collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills • Ability to effectively work with diverse audiences and influence cross-functionally • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment • Proficient in MS Office Suite Please visit our website, http://www.ionis.com for more information about Ionis and to apply for this position; reference requisition #IONIS003904 Ionis offers an excellent benefits package!
