Summary Internet2 is seeking an International Program Manager & Engineering Liaison within the Network Services Division to manage the daily operations of the two international exchange points in New York and Washington D.C., contribute to technical discussions and decision-making regarding global networking and assist in the development of policy and agreements that support a robust well-organized global networking community. Additionally, this position will serve as a key resource for supporting international and domestic researchers, and service implementations that support the requirements of critical constituents within government and industry. The successful candidate is eager to learn, deadline driven, will demonstrate technical acumen related to IP and optical networking, be an effective speaker and communicator, ideally will have familiarity with the national and international research networking community, and possess an ability to work with multiple stakeholders including executives, engineers, legal and financial staff; therefore, it is crucial that the candidate is able to effectively communicate among and between technical and non-technical audiences. This role is outward-facing and the candidate must conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner. The position is remote with regular domestic and international travel required, sometimes on short notice. Responsibilities * Day-to-day oversight of operations for the MAN LAN (New York) and WIX (Washington, D.C.) international exchange points * Representing Internet2’s technical and service capabilities in domestic and international community forums * Communicating with global network operators and engineers to gather insights and to convey Internet2 policy and perspectives as related to the global research networking environment * Assisting exchange point members with technical expertise and facilitating communications with the Internet2 NOC * Engage with internal executives and stakeholders regarding the direction and operation of the international program * Aid in the development and refinement of services and service deployment engineering related to the exchange points * Assist engineering group with implementations for government and industry members * Aid in developing occasionally large and complex network solutions, service acquisitions and deployments for large government and industry entities * Assist in the refinement and development of networking agreements, contribute to the budget process, assist in developing financial and service models, and participate in / lead internal technical and non-technical projects Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology related degrees (or equivalent combination of education and experience). * 5+ years of Internet Protocol (IP) networking experience, with a focus on wide area and international networking. * 5+ years of evaluating and implementing complex networking projects from concept to completion and vendor management experience. * Working knowledge of industry standard peering protocols (BGP), Optical networking technologies and Cloud connectivity. * Familiar with sound operational networking principles and demonstrate a commitment to achieving objectives. * Domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time, occasionally on short notice. * Must have a valid US passport. Preferred Qualifications: * Graduate degree or above. * Experience within the international research and education networking community. * Experience working with contracts, international telecom vendors, developing basic financial models, and working with backend systems. Salary Range / Pay Grade: Position Typically Pays: $134,400-$168,000 Starting pay is typically from the minimum up to the mid-point of the salary range and varies based on experience.
