Job Title: Community Engagement and Participatory Methods Specialist Department/Location: Remote; possibly 7-8 days overseas Reports To: Team Leader / Vice President Type: Consultant Estimated LOE: 25-30 days, March-June 2026 Classification: Consultancy Clearance Required: N/A Overview: Ensures authentic integration of community, user, civil society, and frontline health worker perspectives across the evaluation, in alignment with Unitaid’s learning priorities and participatory ethos. Their responsibilities will include: Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities: • Participatory Design • Design FGDs, storytelling exercises, and user-centered inquiry tools in coordination with the evaluation team members. • Develop guidance for country consultants on ethical and inclusive community engagement. • Data Collection Support • Conduct interviews with community advocates, CSOs, WLHIV groups, and facility-level staff. • Ensure diverse voices inform the evaluation. • Equity and Access Lens • Identify disparities, equity barriers, and user experience patterns across contexts. • Cross-Country Synthesis • Lead analysis for Learning Theme 4: south–south learning and community engagement mechanisms. • Document promising practices for dissemination. • Reporting • Draft community-centered sections of the inception and final reports under direction of the Team Leader and in coordination with the other evaluation team members. • Ensure recommendations reflect lived experiences and practical realities. Key Deliverables • Participatory engagement plan • Customized tools for community-focused inquiry in the targeted countries • Analysis of community findings across and within countries • Provide evaluation inputs to all report drafts as directed by the Team Leader and in coordination with the other evaluation team members Minimum Qualifications: • 8–12 years in participatory evaluation, community-centered design, or SRH advocacy • Experience in lower and middle-income country (LMIC) community engagement in health programs, preferably in some of the following countries Burkina Faso, Guatemala, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, and Senegal. Education: An advanced degree in a relevant field across the social sciences Working Environment: Work is performed in a typical corporate office environment or remotely. Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that required the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs. Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Travel: 10% travel is required. Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work in the country of residence.
