5+ years experience in quality assurance or field engineering with a mechanical engineering bachelor's degree and preferred certifications in quality and safety standards.
Position Overview: The Field Quality Engineer supports both mechanical quality functions in mission-critical environments. This position ensures the integrity, compliance, and performance of systems in the field, encompassing inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation. The role collaborates across engineering, manufacturing, and field operations to resolve issues and uphold quality and safety standards throughout project execution. Key Responsibilities: • Perform field inspections and verifications of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies to ensure compliance with NEC, ASME, AWS, ASTM, IEC, and IEEE standards. • Develop and execute QA inspection and test plans (ITPs) for electrical and mechanical systems. • Conduct equipment and system testing, torque checks, and alignment verification. • Lead root cause analyses and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for nonconformities. • Support field installation QA/QC, including documentation reviews, redlines, and turnover package verification. • Audit suppliers and subcontractors to confirm product quality and adherence to UL, CSA, and NRTL standards. • Maintain and manage all QA documentation including NCRs, inspection reports, and test data logs. • Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and field supervisors to address quality concerns and improve processes. • Provide technical training and mentoring for QA technicians and field inspectors. Qualifications: • 5+ years of quality assurance or field engineering experience in industrial or manufacturing environments. • Excellent verbal and written communication with team members, supervisor, and customers. • Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001, NFPA 70E, NEC, ASME, ASTM, and related quality codes. • Hands-on experience in field commissioning, inspection, and testing of both mechanical and electrical systems. • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. • Preferred: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) • Preferred: NFPA CESCP, ASME GDTP, or NETA Level II Certification • OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry or Electrical Safety) • Strong understanding of quality engineering tools: FMEA, SPC, PPAP, control plans. • Highly experienced in mechanical systems, emphasis on cooling and design • Proficiency with mechanical measurement tools (CMM, calipers, gauges, micrometers). • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and safety. • Safety-conscious and detail-oriented. • Strong collaboration and communication skills. • Proactive and adaptable to changing field environments. • Commitment to continuous improvement and quality excellence Additional Notes: Requires the ability to work in industrial, manufacturing, and outdoor environments. Requires routine travel to project sites. May include performing activities such as bending, stooping, reaching, turning, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must comply with all safety and PPE requirements.
