Overview As a Senior Engineering Manager for the Enterprise Fulfillment team at Instacart, you will lead the engineering team responsible for our core and enterprise fulfillment experiences, supporting our mission to build the picking technology platform required to meet the fulfillment needs of the world's largest retailers and millions of customers. You will provide leadership in driving the stability, scalability, and extensibility of engineering systems that advance the shopper app experience. You will interface with engineering and product leaders across the company, as well as retailer leadership, to collaborate on facilitating new and innovative grocery picking solutions. As the leader of this team, you will develop Instacart's picking technology and provide shoppers with tools to work more efficiently in delivering quality orders for our customers. Additionally, you will help partners build and scale their on-the-ground fulfillment operations using Instacart's fulfillment technology. This includes enterprise-grade Picking App, which supports retailers in managing their in-store pickup operations with their own staff. About the Job Define, communicate, and drive the technical vision and strategy for the team that supports the product strategy and key bets for the company, including new technical investments. Drive high-quality execution of key business outcomes of the team by overseeing the roadmap and enabling technical and product decisions. Partner with Retailers, Product, and Professional Services teams to launch new retailer integrations and launch business critical features. Create best practices for production services, ensuring an exemplary enterprise-grade experience for retailers. Lead, coach, and develop a team of multiple managers & 15+ engineers building the best in-class picking experience for retailers and shoppers. Lead the recruitment and hiring processes to build a high-performing team. About You Minimum Qualifications Proven track record as a hands-on technical leader, preferably at a Staff+ level in a similar industry. 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years managing engineers, with a track record leading teams of 15+ and delivering complex consumer or enterprise facing products. Ability to craft and execute strategic engineering roadmaps that align with business objectives. Highly structured and proactive communication capabilities. Experience in staffing, mentoring, and leading engineering teams to success. Effective cross-functional leadership. Experience working with product managers, EM peers, and senior ICs. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading multiple teams or managing managers, including scaling a team from early stages to 10+ engineers. Prior experience in managing engineering teams that oversee mission critical business systems. Experience building enterprise-grade software systems. Technical depth with Ruby on Rails, Swift and/or Kotlin #LI-Remote Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work.
