Lead a small engineering team to build and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and data pipelines on Azure, implement CI/CD, and ensure reliable production operations.
Experience leading small engineering teams, strong Azure cloud skills including Container Apps and Static Web Apps, Docker expertise, git proficiency, and observability setup in production environments.
Your Mission: Your mission is to design, build, and maintain the cloud infrastructure and systems that power our data ingestion pipelines and SaaS applications while providing mentorship and guidance to a small team of engineers. You’ll make sure our applications scale smoothly, run reliably, and are easy to deploy and operate. You will report to Rafael Kennedy, the Head of Engineering Outcomes You'll Deliver: Lead and mentor a small cross functional team of data and application engineers. Build and maintain cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure to support data ingestion and SaaS applications. Design and operate scalable, reliable data pipelines that integrate with multiple data sources, finding new ways to make old technologies integrate with a modern system. Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, testing, and deployments. Ensure applications run reliably in production through robust monitoring, alerting, and logging. Continuously improve scalability, performance, and fault-tolerance of our systems. Partner with product and data teams to align infrastructure with business and customer needs. Who You Are: You have led a small engineering team before (3–7 people). You know how to run 1:1s, ask the right questions in sprint planning, and give useful feedback with compassion and humility. You are comfortable working in Microsoft Azure. You can deploy and manage applications in services like Container Apps and Static Web Apps, and you understand how to set up networking, secrets, and monitoring in the Azure portal or via IaC. You know your way around Docker. You can write a Dockerfile, and have some ideas about good ways to keep images small. You are confident using git. You know the difference between a merge and a rebase, when to use each, and why you should never force-push to main. You use pull requests and code reviews to collaborate effectively with teammates. You understand the importance of observability. You know how to set up alerts, dashboards, and log aggregation, and you have been part of the team responsible for tracing complicated issues in a production environment. You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment by adapting quickly to changing priorities, wearing multiple hats, and driving progress with limited structure or resources. Salary: $145k–$175k + annual bonus eligible Location: This role is remote eligible. However, we have an office in Washington, DC. Our in-office teams come together for collaborative work in the office Tuesday through Thursday and work remotely on Monday and Friday.
