Engineering Program Manager About Innoven Energy Innoven Energy is at the forefront of laser-driven fusion energy. Our KrF excimer laser platform for Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) is engineered to deliver high-gain, clean energy with repeatability and scalability. Following the completion of a multi-year research and engineering campaign, the company is transitioning to a full system engineering and demonstration phase. We are assembling a world-class team of scientists and engineers to make fusion energy a commercial reality. Position Overview We are seeking an Engineering Program Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of our Inertial Confinement Fusion demonstration program. This role requires an engineering foundation first and foremost—you’ll work alongside teams in laser systems, pulsed power, optics, and large-scale mechanical integration—while also ensuring schedules, budgets, vendor management, and stakeholder alignment across a $20M+ program. The ideal candidate will have experience in systems-level engineering with exposure to nuclear, laser, pulsed power, or advanced energy systems. They will act as the bridge between technical problem-solving and program delivery, serving as the primary interface between scientists, engineers, vendors, and external energy stakeholders ensuring both technical rigor and program success. Key Responsibilities • Translate complex engineering requirements into executable program plans and milestones. • Lead coordination between cross-disciplinary engineering teams (optical, pulsed power, mechanical, controls) and external partners. • Oversee planning, scheduling, cost tracking, and risk management for large-scale demonstration projects. • Participate in or guide troubleshooting of engineering challenges to keep program deliverables on track. • Manage external vendors, contractors, and strategic partners to align technical delivery with program goals. • Prepare and present program updates to leadership, investors, and major energy stakeholders. • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental policies. • Potential relocation to demonstration site as project advances. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Nuclear, Systems Engineering, Physics (military nuclear systems experience may substitute). • 7+ years of engineering experience on large-scale technical programs, with at least 3+ years of program or project leadership preferably in energy, utilities, or infrastructure. • Knowledge and hands on experience with KrF laser systems. • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver integrated systems. • Experience planning, scheduling, and budgeting projects of $20M+ scale. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to engage directly in technical discussions and troubleshooting. • Excellent communication skills to interface with technical teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders. • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, or equivalent) • Willingness to travel and/or relocate to project site in 1-3 years. • U.S. Citizen Preferred Qualifications • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant engineering discipline. • Experience in DOE national labs, Navy nuclear programs, aerospace, or defense R&D. • Familiarity with high-energy laser systems, pulsed power systems, or advanced nuclear/energy infrastructure. • PMP or Program Management certification. • Proven success managing large-scale engineering demonstrations or prototype-to-deployment transitions. • Eligibility for security clearance.
