Job Title :: Technical Program Manager: Location :: Fort Mill SC / New York City, NY Job Type :: Full time Role Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Program Manager to lead and coordinate technical projects across data engineering, data modeling, and data warehousing environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data platforms, ETL processes, and database systems, combined with excellent project management skills. This role involves managing cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality technical solutions, and collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders. The Technical Project Manager will also be responsible for overseeing data platform migrations, automation initiatives, and performance optimization projects. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage end-to-end technical projects related to data platforms, ETL processes, data migrations, and system integrations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project timelines. • Oversee data warehousing, data lake, and big data platform projects in multi-data-center and cloud-based environments, coordinating the efforts of data engineers, data modelers, and database administrators. • Ensure the design, development, and implementation of data models (conceptual, logical, and physical), ETL pipelines, and database systems meet business requirements and industry best practices. • Manage project scope, timelines, risks, and budgets while ensuring timely project delivery and maintaining quality standards. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data architects, developers, QA engineers, and business analysts, to drive project success and address technical challenges. • Lead project planning sessions, develop detailed project plans, and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery of technical solutions. • Facilitate regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on project milestones, issues, and resolutions, and ensuring alignment on objectives. • Implement best practices for data governance, metadata management, and data security across projects. • Troubleshoot project-level technical issues, and provide guidance to resolve complex data, ETL, and system-related challenges. • Drive continuous improvement efforts in project management processes, technical architecture, and team collaboration. Required Skills and Experience: • 7+ years of experience in managing technical projects within data engineering, data modeling, or data warehousing environments. • Strong hands-on technical background with expertise in RDBMS, NoSQL, data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL processes. • Experience with data platform migrations, including transitioning from on-premise to cloud-based solutions like AWS Redshift, Snowflake, or similar technologies. • Proven experience working with metadata management, data modeling tools (Erwin, ER Studio, etc.), and database design principles. • Proficiency in performance tuning for data pipelines, databases, and application queries. • Solid understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall) and best practices. • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to data platforms, ETL pipelines, and SQL/PL-SQL scripts. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS Cloud for data management and migration projects. • Relevant certifications in project management (PMP, PRINCE2) or technical certifications in data platforms or ETL tools. • Someone who can bridge the gap between technical teams & business stakeholders, ensuring successful delivery of complex data projects while maintaining high standards of quality, performance, and efficiency.
