Legal User Experience (UX) Designer, Justicia LabPosition:Justicia Lab is in search of a Legal User Experience Designer to lead the development and management of Justicia Lab’s award-winning immigrant legal tech tools (Citizenshipwoks, Immi, Immigration Law Help, and Immigration Advocates Network) and our nascent workplace justice project ¡Reclamo!. We are seeking an out-of-the-box thinker who will bring legal expertise and user experience design to develop novel digital legal solutions for immigrants nationwide. The Legal User Experience Designer will lead the development of our legal screening interviews, support in the maintenance of our plain-language and multilingual legal content, and develop strategic partnerships with national and local advocate partners to support the development of new initiatives and scale the reach of Justicia Lab’s tools. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in immigration law and exposure to other civil legal issues disproportionately impacting immigrants and refugees.This full-time position reports to Justicia Lab’s Director based in New York City. Remote applicants are welcome to apply.Responsibilities:Lead the design and development of dynamic issue-spotting legal interviews, referral tools, and online legal forms supporting immigrants navigating immigration and employment law.Liaise with national legal experts to support in the maintenance of our plain language legal content on Justicia Lab’s Citizenshipworks, immi, and the Immigration Advocates Network sites.Develop strategic partnerships with national and local advocate partners to support the development of new initiatives and scale the reach of Justicia Lab’s tools.Inform the UI/UX of Justicia Lab’s legal tools and lead user testing and analysisLead trainings and product demos to help grow awareness and adoption of new toolsHelp to cultivate project success by identifying and sharing promising practices on UX design, stakeholder engagement, training and rolloutQualifications:JD and experienced managing legal technology initiatives in access to justice or civic tech field5+ years of experience in immigration law and exposure to civil legal issues impacting immigrants and refugees preferredFamiliarity with expert system authoring software and development methodologies, and willingness and ability to learn new approachesDemonstrated ability to take ownership of projects from planning through executionStrong analytical, problem solving and diagnostic skillsUnderstanding of principles of user experience design and user testing methodsDetail-oriented and self-directedExcellent listening and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to track and synthesize information in a clear and accessible mannerExcitement to understand, learn and guide the development of current and new systemsDemonstrated interest in the public interest, nonprofit, or social justice arenaHow to Apply:Interested candidates should send an email with a cover letter and resume to Jobs@probono.net.
