Create, execute, and lead social media content and video capture for NHL Germany channels, collaborating with teams and stakeholders.
Fluent in German and English, with at least 3 years of social media experience, strong creative skills, and familiarity with sports and pop culture.
Job Purpose: A two-pillar role, working for the NHL Germany [Deutschland] channels for the 2025/26 season, based in Detroit, Michigan. • Part One: We are looking for a fluent German-speaking who can create, execute, and lead on social posting across the official Facebook, Instagram, X, WhatsApp channels - alongside the existing German social team • Part Two: This same individual would be available to attend NHL games in the Detroit region to capture high-quality video content (phone and camera) on behalf of the NHL International channels This new innovative role could be the perfect fit for someone who loves hockey, and Moritz Seider. The Community Manager will collaborate with the IMG team members, external freelancers and client stakeholders (e.g. Content, Design, Video) to maximise growth and engagement. The right candidate will be expected to uphold and devise content best practices, identify new posting opportunities and contribute innovative ideas to ensure the client’s social output is best-in-class. Job duties and responsibilities: • Support, ideate, create, and lead on the ongoing social media publishing for the client's Instagram, Facebook, X, and WhatsApp accounts • Manage the day-to-day social output across all accounts, working together to provide social copy, with the existing NHL DE team • Ensure all social tasks and requests are completed professionally, on time and to a high-quality standard • Delivery of social media output which enhances the league’s position of being market-leading in terms of a digital sports experience • New fan growth, engagement and video views for @NHLDE on Instagram, @NHLDE on X, @NHL on Facebook (geo-fenced) and @NHLDeutschland on WhatsApp • Continue to build the NHL’s reputation in Switzerland and the surrounding areas as a League who embraces this community, leads with creativity and innovation, and is welcoming to all • A network of engaged influencers (big and small) who actively promote the NHL in a positive light on a regular basis • Deliver significant support for the League’s broadcast partner in Germany • Professional, accurate and entertaining NHL social media channels • Share knowledge with IMG team members and stakeholders to learn common lessons and achieve shared goals • Monitor performance and output to stay up to date with social trends and features • Proactively identify emerging opportunities within the social media space • Work closely with the IMG team to ensure social content is shared effectively, timely and engagingly • Observe current industry trends, market changes and competitor output to ensure IMG can capitalise on emerging opportunities • Identify Instagram collaboration opportunities with relevant German-facing accounts and build relationships with account stakeholders • Virtually attend meetings to discuss, present and define both short and long-term content planning Desired Behaviours & Qualifications: • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and individually across Canadian and European timezones • Time-management and planning skills, with a proven ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks • Strong catalogue of video capture examples from live sporting events, from phone and camera, to highlight ability to tackle this new role • Strong creative skills and the initiative to constantly seek to improve IMG's social presence • A keen eye for detail and the ability to proofread, edit and fact-check stats-based copy both quickly and efficiently • Confidence to discuss, plan and give feedback to both the internal leadership team and external partners • Minimum of three years of professional experience in Social Media (or similar roles) preferred • Strong knowledge of Social Media trends and specific best practices for major platforms • Strong experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro and Photoshop as primary platforms) • Strong knowledge of the hockey news cycle • Strong knowledge of German and North American pop culture and how the NHL is influenced by music, fashion and other US sporting events • Knowledge of social media reporting tools and native platforms to ensure key metrics are reported and new features are utilised • Willingness to work weekend and evening shift patterns (dependent on puck drop times and high-profile events) • Ability to write and speak fluently in English and German is essential • Flexible, reactive and sound editorial judgement • Positive, pragmatic person who really has a passion to take German hockey coverage to the next level, and create the next generation of fans
