As an AWS Cloud Engineer/Architect, you will design, upgrade, and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS. Role and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Evaluate and select appropriate AWS services based on project requirements. Design and implement integration strategies and data flow architectures for cloud-based systems. Upgrade and maintain AWS components, including regular EKS version upgrades and cluster patching. Support and manage Kafka topics within the solution environment. Develop and maintain Terraform scripts to automate infrastructure provisioning, scaling, and management across multiple environments (Dev, QA, Stage, Prod). Configure and deploy AWS compute, networking, and storage resources (EC2, VPC, S3, EBS, EFS, RDS, etc.). Deploy and manage containerized environments using Kubernetes and Amazon EKS. Migrate applications and data from legacy systems to AWS; implement ETL processes and optimize data pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency. Implement AWS security best practices, including IAM roles/policies, encryption, security groups, and VPC configurations. Conduct security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with FedRAMP, FISMA, and federal security standards. Monitor AWS resources and applications using CloudWatch, Datadog, or equivalent monitoring tools for performance and availability. Troubleshoot integration, networking, and cloud infrastructure issues. Provide ongoing operational support for AWS infrastructure and production environments. Collaborate with SME’s, developers, security teams, and program stakeholders to ensure resilient, secure, and compliant cloud services. Document infrastructure designs, upgrade processes, runbooks, and best practices for knowledge transfer. U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a federal background investigation. Minimum of 8 years of hands-on cloud experience with at least 3+ years in AWS. Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field (or equivalent experience). Strong proficiency with AWS services, including networking, compute, storage, and security. Proven experience with: Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) — deploying, upgrading, and supporting clusters. Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code. Kafka administration and topic management. CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins). Monitoring/observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana. Experience automating infrastructure workflows and integrating APIs/SDKs with AWS services. Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST). Ability to work closely with technical SMEs, security teams, and OCIO leadership to ensure secure, integrated, and optimized solutions.
