Job Summary The overall purpose of this position is to facilitate and improve the processes and reporting associated with running and/or managing the business component of IEEE Computer Society technical activities. The incumbent in this position works with IEEE Computer Society Staff, Conference Organizers, Society and Technical Community leaders and other interested parties to ensure consistent, accurate, and on-time information for the budget, forecast, and reporting. Position also is responsible for adherence to IEEE policies and standards, US and local laws for all Computer Society Technical Community Activities. This role is tasked with bridging gaps and identifying strategic opportunities. The role typically reports to the Senior CS Communities Financial Manager. They will also work closely with other CS staff in many departments, other IEEE and TA managers and volunteers in the implementation of Computer Society business and reporting processes. This position must be able to function with minimal supervision, in a deadline-oriented environment, and is able to recommend changes in departmental and IEEE procedures/processes for management review and approval. Key Responsibilities Relationship Development: Develop, build, and maintain relationships with people at all levels and regions (US and global) of the IEEE organization e.g. volunteers and co-sponsors in various societies as well as with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders Handles tasks and projects as assigned by management Supports Computer Society Technical Community and Activities Leadership and ensures Interests of Society business goals are met: Reviews technical activity budgets and financial projections for accuracy and reasonability Provides general business needs consultation and on-going coaching to Society volunteers leading technical activities Develops and maintains relationships with technical community volunteers providing operational support and serving as a trusted partner in their pursuit of operational excellence Identifies, documents, and recommends areas of operational improvement Facilitates incoming/outgoing payment requests from organizers and CS leadership Reviews all payment request submissions with respect to applicable laws, policies, and internal controls Business Reporting: Validates, reviews, and audits financial reports in working with technical activities volunteers to ensure accuracy and adherence to IEEE policy Guides and aids CS Technical Community volunteers in the usage of financial tools. Ad Hoc Reporting and Special Requests: Prepares periodic management reporting and analysis Works on ad-hoc financial reporting, projects, and analysis as requested by IEEE CS Volunteer and Staff leadership Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field of interest Req Work Experience 2-4 years Relevant business experience Req Skills and Requirements Advanced portfolio-level awareness, understanding and support Excellent organizational and analytical skills and ability to manage several projects simultaneously Attention to detail and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are critical Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and many potential interruptions Ability to identify steps necessary to resolve problems as well as the ability to execute changes Must have a strong command of business English and be able to articulate program and transactional details with precision Must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out new solutions to business challenges. Proficiency in computers & software, Excel, Word, Gmail, Databases, Oracle, Hyperion, NetSuite and Quick Books Must possess the ability to influence other to make appropriate business decisions (IEEE Policy, industry standards, budget, etc.) Must have strong collaboration skills as this position requires frequent interaction with cross-functional, solution-oriented teams Previous experience with process development, internal control evaluation, & process documentation a plus Other Requirements: As defined in IEEE Policies, individuals currently serving on an IEEE board or committee are not eligible to apply.
