Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES: Define system architecture and high-level design. Choose appropriate technologies and frameworks. Design and implement scalable, efficient, and robust software solutions. Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more technical domains. Lead high-impact projects or subsystems. Review and approve design and code of others. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders on requirements and feasibility. Mentor and support mid-level and junior developers. Influence broader engineering practices and technical strategy. Design and develop microservices written in Java/J2EE with Spring Boot + JPA/Hibernate. Possesses full grasp of the software development process including: requirements, analysis, design, coding, system, user testing, problem resolution and planning. Serve in a leadership capacity to promote best practices and conventions while mentoring other software engineers within and outside of the team. Consistently creates optimal design and implementation adhering to architectural standards. This is with a consideration of scalability, reliability and performance of impacted systems/services when defining technical designs. Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will enable team productivity and velocity. Exhibits relentless focus in software reliability engineering standards embedded into development principles. As a leader, contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Conducts code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices in compliance with development procedures and methodologies. Assist with deployment automation duties to build out a robust, scalable, and highly available ecosystem within AWS EKS. This is performed through the use of Helm. Work alongside other DevOps engineers to effectively strategize and implement capabilities that will improve our overall Automation posture across the organization. This consists of deployment and test automation engineers within the core team and external teams ranging from Development, Cloud Platform (Infrastructure), Project/Product management, SRE Operations, etc. As a senior engineer, provides technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members. Collaborate in a joint effort with global and overseas counterparts to acquire and/or author product development and automation code. Work closely with the Cloud Platform Engineering Team to provision/deploy and maintain the underlying infrastructure through the use of IaaC managed by Terraform using GitLab pipelines. Operate, understand, and support the logging and visualization of log metrics through an ELK-like stack (FluentD, Opensearch, Kibana). Manage and automate the state of our PKI and handling of secrets in a highly sensitive environment. This consists of certificate creation/management, encryption, key cryptography, etc. Operate in unison with Test Automation engineers to functionally test the validity of environments and their underlying services. Other testing involves performance, high availability, destructive testing to instrument and create a highly redundant, fault tolerant, distributed service architecture scaled to customers' SLAs. Assist SRE Operations with the triaging, diagnosing, and troubleshooting of both internal and customer facing issues, as they arise. Drive forth key deliverables from a deployment automation aspect tied to a defined roadmap and pipeline of customers' schedules Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with generative AI. Deep understanding of system design, distributed systems, APIs, scalability, and security. Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication. Strategic thinking and ability to translate business needs into technical architecture. Often experienced in DevOps, CI/CD, cloud architecture (e.g. AWS) At least 8 years of experience as a Software Engineer or a similar role. At least 8 years of experience working with Java/J2EE. Experience with Microservices, Spring Boot, Batch. Basic working knowledge of Cryptography Experience with Maven, TeamCity, GitLab. Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm. Experience with Fortify, SonarQube, XRay. Experience working on a cloud based application with high availability and performance SLAs. Experience with Git and GitLab source control and CI/CD orchestration. Experience deploying to and managing a Kubernetes environment. Experience with deployment automation tools such as Ansible and Helm. Experience or familiarity with IaaC automation tools such as Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation. Basic working knowledge of databases (relational and non-SQL). Experience working within Cloud AWS with the use of managed services. Experience working in a multi-tenant, distributed architecture. Experience or familiarity with access protocol e.g. LDAP, OIDC, Cognito, Keycloak. Experience deploying and managing a micro-service orientated environment. Possesses a versatile breadth of core and fundamental skill sets e.g. PKI, networking fundamentals, Linux administration, scripting, coding (client and server side), security, storage, etc. Has the ability to work well with others and effectively communicate and/or collaborate.
