Manage procurement activities for operations, maintenance, and capital projects including supplier negotiation, bid analysis, purchase order management, and collaboration with engineering and project teams.
Experience in procurement within oil & gas or chemical manufacturing, strong negotiation and communication skills, analytical ability, proficiency in Excel and preferably Oracle, and a relevant bachelor's degree.
Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Field Buyer to join our procurement team at a chemical manufacturing site in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials and services to support daily operations, maintenance activities, and capital projects at the plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain processes in industrial environments and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations and engineering teams. Key Responsibilities: • Manage end-to-end procurement activities for operations, maintenance, and capital projects. • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effective, and timely delivery of goods and services. • Develop and analyze competitive bid requests (RFPs/RFQs) and make data-driven recommendations. • Create and manage requisitions and purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures. • Collaborate closely with end users, engineering, and project management to align procurement strategies with operational needs. • Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships. • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize purchasing processes and cost savings. Qualifications: • Proven experience working with end users and procurement teams in oil & gas or chemical manufacturing environments. • Strong knowledge of materials, services, and supplier networks relevant to chemical manufacturing operations. • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret proposals and make informed purchasing decisions. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement systems (Oracle experience preferred). • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred.
