Your role and responsibilities Automation Architect The Automation Architect is a deep technical expert across IBM’s automation platforms, serving as a trusted advisor to clients and partners. You guide customers through their most complex automation challenges like designing, co‑creating, and operationalizing solutions that deliver measurable business value. What You’ll Do • Shape the client’s end‑to‑end experience with IBM Automation—from visioning to architecture to operational adoption. • Educate clients on platform capabilities and design automation‑enabled solutions aligned to their business and technical strategies. • Lead use‑case definition, solution patterns, installation guidance, configuration best practices, and optimization support. • Engage customers face‑to‑face, demonstrating innovation and technical depth through workshops, prototypes, and proofs of technology. • Collaborate across Client Engineering, Customer Success, Expert Labs, partners, and technical sellers to accelerate deal progression and ensure solution success. • Identify ongoing opportunities to expand automation adoption and support long‑term client strategy. • Maintain strong awareness of industry trends and apply them to enterprise‑scale automation initiatives. Summary The Automation Architect blends the strategic design strengths of a Platform Technical Architect with the hands‑on adoption leadership of a Customer Success Engineer, guiding clients through their automation journey from initial framing to realized business value. Required technical and professional expertise Deep technical expertise in automation software, platforms, containers, infrastructure, and business automation patterns. The ability to travel 3-4 days a week and meet directly with clients. Proven leadership guiding diverse technical teams across demand generation, solution design, deployment, and post‑sales adoption. Strong collaboration, communication, and influence across matrixed organizations (typical deal sizes: $100K-$1M+). Consultative and Challenger‑style selling experience, focused on leading clients to the right solution. Preferred technical and professional experience Expertise with multiple IBM Automation platforms and products - Application Development, Application Integration, Hashi Corp, Network Management, Identity and Access Management, Information Technology Automation/Observability, and/or Asset Lifecycle Management. Familiarity with enterprise architecture integration. Expertise in working directly face-to-face with information technology clients and progressing opportunities through a sales cycle from a technical sale perspective. Knowledge of Salesforce.
