If you enjoy solving real supply chain problems in real time, this role offers direct ownership and impact. The Supply Chain Specialist supports fast-paced manufacturing operations by managing suppliers, inventory accuracy, and material flow. The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for procurement execution, inventory management, and cycle counting across manufacturing partners. This role focuses on ensuring supplier on-time delivery, resolving past-due orders, and addressing material shortages to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. Richmond, VA (onsite) or Remote (U.S.) Key Responsibilities Procurement, Buying & Supplier Management • Execute purchase orders based on demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory levels • Source and purchase raw materials, components, and strategic commodities to support production requirements • Identify and evaluate suppliers; negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts • Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery (OTD), and drive corrective actions for late or past-due orders • Proactively manage shortages and supplier delays to minimize manufacturing impact • Collaborate with suppliers to improve lead times, quality, and cost efficiency • Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity and reliability Inventory Management & Cycle Counting • Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory • Perform regular cycle counts at manufacturing partner locations to ensure inventory accuracy • Analyze inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions • Optimize inventory turnover and storage efficiency using data-driven analysis Shortage Management • Identify and mitigate material shortages impacting manufacturing operations • Work closely with manufacturing partners to prioritize and resolve shortages • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve supply chain resilience and risk mitigation • Develop alternative sourcing strategies to prevent future disruptions Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field • 3+ years of experience in procurement, inventory management, or supply chain operations • Experience working in ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar) • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in inventory optimization • Effective communication and negotiation skills for supplier interaction • Ability to travel as needed for supplier visits and partner meetings Preferred Experience • Experience supporting manufacturing partners or contract manufacturers • Exposure to strategic commodity procurement and supplier development • APICS or other supply chain certifications • Familiarity with lean supply chain principles and continuous improvement Location Onsite in Richmond, VA, or remote depending on candidate location and business needs. Compensation The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $75,000 - $95,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
