Summary As an Associate Cybersecurity Analyst at Hummingbird, you will support the safeguarding of our systems, data, and infrastructure. This role focuses on foundational work in monitoring, detecting, and documenting security alerts and incidents, as well as supporting compliance with key frameworks like HIPAA and SOC 2. In this role, you will support engineers, IT operations, and compliance by carrying out security procedures, assisting with audits and risk documentation, and gaining experience in identity and access management. This seat is an entry point into cybersecurity at Hummingbird, laying the foundation for a career path into cybersecurity engineering or identity and access management. FLSA Status: Exempt Compensation: $30.43 - $35.00 - $37.28/hour, based on experience. Benefits Eligible: Yes. Work Location: This position is remote. You must work from a location within the United States with consistent internet service. People Manager: No Security Monitoring & Incident Response Monitor security alerts and logs from systems like SIEM and endpoint protection platforms. Triage, investigate, and escalate security incidents in line with established procedures. Conduct basic root-cause analysis and document findings for team review. Maintain incident response playbooks and participate in post-incident reviews. Threat Intelligence & Proactive Defense Research emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors relevant to healthcare. Track trends in phishing, ransomware, and social engineering threats. Share summaries of relevant threat intel with the security team. Recommend simple proactive measures and improvements for review. Risk Management & Compliance Perform periodic vulnerability scans and assist in tracking remediation efforts. Gather and prepare documentation for compliance audits (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST). Support internal risk assessments for vendors, clients, and internal projects. Learn how to map controls to compliance frameworks. Security Operations Support Collaborate with IT and engineering to maintain secure configurations of systems and applications. Support patch management and secure deployment practices. Assist in documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs). Contribute to automating repetitive security tasks under guidance. Identity Access Management (IAM) Monitoring and Compliance Assist with user provisioning and deprovisioning processes across systems. Support management of MFA, SSO, and basic IAM hygiene tasks. Conduct regular user access reviews with operational teams. Learn IAM principles and contribute to enforcement of role-based access. Required & Desired Skills Required Skills and Experience 1+ years of experience in an IT or technical related role or equivalent training/certification. Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and regulatory environments. Exposure to security tools like SIEM, endpoint protection, or IAM. Strong documentation and communication skills. Interest in healthcare data protection (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.). Desired Skills and Experience Experience with security automation tools or basic scripting. Understanding of cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, etc.). Comfort working in a remote or distributed environment.
