This is a pivotal role that ensures the facility remains a "comfortable environment like home" by organizing activities, supporting staff, and acting as a cultural liaison for residents and their families in our North Bergen, NJ location. A critical function of this role is promoting the Korean Program to the local community. Responsibilities • Program Management & Cultural Coordination • Program Development & Implementation: Design, coordinate, and lead daily, weekly, and special events, including: Traditional Korean Crafts, Social games, Exercise activities, Outings, and Special Events. • Cultural Liaison: Act as the primary cultural resource, ensuring all programs, services, and facility operations are sensitive to and aligned with Korean customs and preferences. • Communication & Translation: Facilitate effective communication between Korean residents/families and facility management/clinical staff, utilizing the available 24/7 translator resources when necessary. • Resident & Family Engagement: Work closely with residents and their families to gauge interests, solicit feedback, and tailor programming to maximize participation and satisfaction. • Documentation: Maintain records of program attendance, resident participation, and activity effectiveness for reporting and compliance. • Staff Support: Collaborate with the clinical and nursing staff, providing cultural context and support to ensure a warm, comfortable, and professional environment. Community Marketing & Outreach • Community Engagement: Actively market the Korean Program to the wider Korean-American community in North Bergen, Hudson County, and surrounding areas. • Partnership Development: Build and maintain relationships with local Korean community centers, churches, cultural organizations, and related businesses. • Event Promotion: Represent HudsonView at community events, health fairs, and cultural festivals to promote the specialized services. • Collateral Input: Provide cultural and linguistic expertise to the Marketing/Admissions team to ensure promotional materials (brochures, digital content) are accurate, compelling, and culturally appropriate. Qualifications Required • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in activity planning, program coordination, or management, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting. • Cultural Fluency: Fluency in Korean (speaking, reading, and writing) and a deep understanding of Korean culture, customs, and traditional activities is required. • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in both English and Korean. • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and execute detailed plans. • Compassion: Genuine compassion for the elderly and a commitment to maintaining their dignity and quality of life. Preferred • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field. • Experience with long-term care or subacute rehabilitation environments. • Certification as an Activity Professional (e.g., NCCAP).
