Lead quality initiatives and develop risk-based testing strategies while mentoring teammates.
4+ years software testing experience with automation frameworks and programming in Python or TypeScript.
At Hudl, we build great teams. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces. We think of ourselves as the team behind the team, supporting the lifelong impact sports can have: the lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring coaches; and the opportunities to reach new heights. That’s why we help teams from all over the world see their game differently. Our products make it easier for coaches and athletes at any level to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and more. Ready to join us? Your Role We're seeking an experienced, automation-focused Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our North American Sports product team. This team develops insightful analytics and Recruit products for American Football, helping high-level coaches and analysts make faster, data-driven decisions on player performance and talent acquisition. As the testing expert within your cross-functional squad, you'll own quality end-to-end — building the strategies and automation that ensure we're shipping software our users love. You'll drive quality discussions, challenge the team to maintain high standards, and be the advocate for reliability and performance at every stage of delivery. As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll: Lead quality initiatives. Build risk-based testing strategies tailored to your squad's architecture, drive quality discussions in scrum ceremonies, challenge defect priorities, and continuously look for ways to improve practices and keep your squad's quality processes ahead of the curve. Test across the stack. Design and execute tests spanning front-end UI, APIs, backend services, and data pipelines — validating transformations, service outputs, and complex logic at scale. Automate with intent. Make informed decisions about what, when, and how to automate. Use Playwright and scripting to build reliable, maintainable automated checks that keep pace with development. Mentor and grow others. Use your technical depth and quality instincts to coach teammates, raise the bar for quality standards across the team, and influence how the whole squad thinks about quality. Collaborate cross-functionally. Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Design, contribute to hiring, and invest in your own professional development. Location While local candidates in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska are prioritized, we’re open to remote applicants who reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Must-Haves Quality focus. You see the big picture and use it to drive improvements in both quality and velocity. Technical depth. 4+ years of software testing experience with hands-on expertise across the full stack — API testing, backend and data-heavy systems, and front-end validation — plus proficiency in automation frameworks like Playwright and languages like Python or TypeScript. A track record of leadership. You've owned quality for a squad, led testing initiatives end-to-end, defined success criteria, and designed approaches that measurably reduce risk in production. Investigative rigour. You dig to root causes of complex problems, back your findings with data, and measure outcomes. User focus. You think critically about the user experience and let that understanding shape your testing approach. AI-powered working. You actively use AI tools in your day-to-day workflow — for test case creation, failure diagnosis, documentation, and beyond — and look for new ways to apply them to raise the team's efficiency. Nice-to-Haves Performance testing exposure. Familiarity with load, stress, and scalability testing concepts and tools (e.g. JMeter) for validating API and backend performance. Sports knowledge. Passion for or experience in Basketball, American Football or Ice Hockey — whether as an athlete, coach, or fan — and an appreciation for the unique challenges of sports technology. A relevant degree or equivalent experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience. Our Role Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too. Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas. Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing. Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work. Support your mental and physical health. We care about our employees’ wellbeing. Our Employee Assistance Program, employee resource groups and fitness partner Peerfit have you covered. Cover your medical insurance. We have multiple plans to pick from to ensure you’ll have the coverage you (and your dependents) want, including vision, dental, fertility healthcare and family forming benefits. Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that’s free money. We’ll match up to 4% of your own contribution. Compensation The base salary range for this role is displayed below—starting salaries will typically fall near the middle of this range. We make compensation decisions based on an individual's experience, skills and education in line with our internal pay equity practices. Base Salary Range $82,000—$137,000 USD Inclusion at Hudl Hudl is an equal opportunity employer. Through our actions, behaviors and attitude, we’ll create an environment where everyone, no matter their differences, feels like they belong.
