COMPANY BACKGROUND The Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club’s brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park. The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament championships for both the Dynamo (2018) (2023) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state. PURPOSE OF THE JOB This role will assist in the daily operations of the club’s First Team equipment needs for both players and staff. The candidate should have a drive to help and assist people through a customer service approach and a genuine desire to make people happy and successful in a professional sports environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Equipment & Apparel Management • Assist with inventory control, including receiving, organizing, labeling, and tracking First Team uniforms, training gear, footwear, and accessories. • Prepare and distribute daily training gear for players and staff. • Set up and break down equipment for all First Team training sessions (balls, cones, GPS units, bibs, goals, hydration, etc.). • Maintain the equipment room and storage areas in a clean, and organized manner. • Coordinate laundering and sanitation of uniforms and training apparel. Matchday Operations • Pack, transport, and set up all required equipment for home and away matches. • Prepare First Team locker rooms with complete match kits and gear for each player. • Assist in managing sideline equipment during matches (match balls, hydration systems, replacement kits). • Support post-match breakdown, cleaning, and restocking. Logistics & Team Support • Assist with preparation of travel trunks, match kits, and equipment manifests for MLS road trips. • Work with performance staff to track and maintain GPS units, heart rate monitors, and other performance technology. • Support vendor relationships with apparel and equipment partners. • Help new players onboard by preparing personalized gear, lockers, and equipment setup. Maintenance & Quality Control • Inspect and maintain all First Team gear—boots, balls, uniforms, and training equipment—to ensure top condition. • Operate heat presses and jersey customization equipment to prepare training and match kits. • Ensure compliance with MLS regulations and Houston Dynamo FC equipment standards. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS • Prior equipment management experience is required—preferably at the professional, MLS, USL, or NCAA Division I level. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work long, irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. • Ability to lift and transport equipment (typically 40–50 lbs). • Knowledge of soccer-specific equipment and matchday operations. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel with the First Team. • Professionalism, confidentiality, and a team-first mentality. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES • Experience with inventory management systems. • Familiarity with apparel customization (heat pressing, jersey numbering). • Understanding of MLS equipment procedures and league standards. • Strong communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
