Emp Status Regular Full time Work Shift Compensation Range The base pay scale for this position is $103,500.00 - $157,875.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. What you will be doing Assistant Patient Care Director Clinical Services 4 days a week 12p-10p Overview: The Assistant Patient Care Director (or Assistant Manager, Clinical Services, or Assistant Nurse Manager) will support the oversight of the clinical and operational functions of the patients and staff in the operating rooms. The Assistant Patient Care Director will be a change facilitator. Responsibilities include working with the Patient Care Director, Medical and Surgical teams and Professional Development (PD) team to set goals and objectives in accordance with HSS strategic initiatives, as well as planning, organizing, and monitoring unit activities. The Assistant PCD will partner with the Patient Care Director with the fiscal responsibility for the unit, facilitating efficient and cost-effective daily operations. The Assistant PCD will assist with the management and evaluation of unit and staff performance while establishing an environment where both staff and patients are able to reach their full potential. They will coordinate and lead unit activities to assure optimal and appropriate care for patients, consistent with the philosophy and goals of the Nursing Department and Hospital for Special Surgery. They will collaborate with the Patient Care Director, Frontline staff and the Interdisciplinary Team to promote the highest standards of care and safety as is critical to the mission of HSS. Staff Development Collaborate with PCD to facilitate staff orientation, development and clinical competencies Assist with orientation coordination for new hires and training Serves as a resource to coordinate clinical activities to ensure the highest level of patient care, incorporating patient safety, interdisciplinary communication, patient and staff satisfaction, and resource utilization Facilitate staff involvement in hospital wide committees. Clinical Competency and Practice Review policies and procedures to support clinical practices Collaborates with the team to coordinate the plan of care for all complex patients Active engagement, council membership Complete/ Monitor NDNQI Audits in collaboration with Clinicians Complete/ Monitor Nursing Tracer and Environmental Tracer unit audits Support all clinical operations of the unit as needed such as Charge nurse, clinical assignments as needed. Unit Development and Projects Utilizes performance improvement model (Plan-Do-Study-Act) to improve patient outcomes Work as a leader, with clinical staff on unit projects (1 per year) Facilitate coordination and collaboration between all units to improve patient and staff experience as well as improve workflow processes Leadership Responsibilities: Partners with the Patient Care Directors regarding clinical practice, staff communication, time utilization, change facilitation and staff assignments Developing quality management and performance improvement activities Address areas of weakness and develop plans for improvement Partner’s with the Patient Care Director for performance management and evaluations Partner with Patient Care Director in implementing operational policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency Understand Magnet nursing principles and culture; drive Magnet initiatives Employee Rounding Supports/ Coordinates with all levels of the leadership team to support staffing for all areas Maintain cultural and diversity appreciation when interacting with patients and their families, visitors, and co-workers Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to improve workflow and enhance patient experience Cover Patient Care Directors in their absence Cover Nursing Coordinator role if needed Job Qualifications Education Required: Bachelors Nursing / BSN, currently enrolled in Masters Preferred: Masters Required: Registered Nurse NYS License, AHA BLS Required: Certification in CNOR or Orthopedics recognized by ANCC Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong customer service orientation Strong clinical knowledge and experience Non-Discrimination Policy Hospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
